In World of Warcraft, Xal’atath returns. Will the players help her make the Old God N’Zoth stronger?
The Interim patch 8.1.5 is currently playable on the PTR of World of Warcraft. The dataminers are already busy dissecting the game data and extracting as many details as possible. This includes many voiced dialogues and monologues that provide insights into the story.
Return of the Shadow Priest Blade: It is definitely exciting that Xal’atath’s voice acting is finally present. The Blade of the Black Empire was the artifact weapon of the Shadow Priests in Legion but vanished without a trace after the ritual to cleanse the Sword of Sargeras. In patch 8.1.5, it reappears and has received a lot of voiced lines.
More than 9 minutes you will be lulled by the seductive, manipulative voice when you complete the corresponding quest line:
Players empower the Old Gods: Particularly interesting are the lines where Xal’atath presents her offering to N’Zoth in order to be rewarded with a humanoid form. Here, Xal’atath speaks of “a beacon that she has offered.” This directly references a quote from Il’gynoth (a boss from the Emerald Nightmare), who said years ago, “Five beacons guide our way,” alluding to the Old Gods or Void Lords seeking to find their way to Azeroth.
If you add one and one together, it probably means that the players have increased N’Zoth’s power and brought him a step closer to freedom.
Cortyn says: With the English voice of Xal’atath, I always get chills down my spine. I don’t think a better voice could have been found for a manipulative, sentient blade. Hopefully, we will see more of Xal’atath as she receives her own body with patch 8.1.5…
Are you looking forward to new quests with Xal’atath? After all, the blade will soon be in Sylvanas’ hands…
