Tonight marks the release of WotLK Classic in World of Warcraft. Time, new class, and changes in overview.
When is the release? The official release of WotLK Classic is at 00:00 on September 27. So in the night between Monday and Tuesday. The time corresponds to 12 am CEST, as seen on Blizzard’s overview map.

By the way: Even before the release, there are huge queues on at least one German server. Anyone logging in there now won’t make it into the game in time.

New Class: The Death Knight is the new class that you could already level in the prepatch. There are Death Knights with Frost, Blood, and Unholy specializations in the talent trees. Anyone creating a new Death Knight starts directly at level 55. You can create your first Death Knight per realm without prerequisites.
New Continent: The journey of WotLK brings you to Northrend. On the snowy continent, you will encounter the armies of the Lich King, who have settled in many places. The fight against the undead is the focus of dungeons and raids.
New Profession: In WotLK Classic, you will begin the new profession of Inscription. By milling herbs, you can produce pigments and thus ink, which is used to create glyphs and more. With glyphs, you can enhance or change abilities. Anyone can use the glyphs and acquire them from scribes or the auction house.
The starting zones and map: You can start leveling in Northrend in two different starting zones.
- The Borean Tundra
- The Howling Fjord
Both areas are suitable for leveling from level 68 to 72. Even if you haven’t reached level 70 in TBC Classic, you can start in Northrend with level 68.
Where is there PvP? In the area of Wintergrasp, there will regularly be battles where Alliance and Horde fight for temporary control of the area. Every three hours, you will receive a notification in the outdoor area of Wintergrasp and also in the capital Dalaran that the battle for Wintergrasp is about to begin. Those staying in the outdoor area receive an invitation to the queue. Those in Dalaran can speak to an NPC to join the queue.
The battle will run instanced. Similar to what you know from Alterac Valley.
As the lead developers explained to us in an interview, there is still open PvP in Wintergrasp. Although you only see the actual fortress for your faction, provided that a member of your faction has won the battle on your server, the outer areas with elementals and so on remain open to all.
