WoW WotLK Classic gets a release date and Lost Ark shows the next new class

This week, there were many good news in both WoW and Lost Ark. But even with the smaller MMORPGs, there is much positive to report. You can find all the important MMORPG news of the week summarized here.

The highlights of the week:

• It was leaked last week, now it is official. The Wrath of the Lich King expansion for WoW Classic will be released on September 27, 2022 and shows you the first trailer.
• Lost Ark shows the machinist in the roadmap for the next two months, which will come as a new class to the MMORPG in September.
• New World gets its biggest update yet with a long-awaited feature, but it destroys it immediately (via mmorpg.com).

The shocker of the week: The German MMORPG Tibia breaks a taboo that most genre representatives do not dare to touch and allows you to sell characters.

The discussion of the week: Guild Wars 2 could already appear on Steam in August, but can that bring the success that the developers hope for?

ESO changes the combat system for the 4th time in a year and players are annoyed

This happened with the big MMORPGs:

• New World has not only introduced musical instruments and a dungeon finder with its biggest patch but also a big summer event. You can find all the information in our guide.
• Elder Scrolls Online is changing its combat system for the 4th time in a year and players are becoming increasingly dissatisfied.
• Final Fantasy XIV announces the next Live Letter for August 12 (via massivelyop).
• Fans find the Arcanist in Lost Ark so complicated that they are building their own game to learn it.
• World of Warcraft is handing out massive buffs to shadow priests and warriors, but many classes have to endure nerfs.

This happened with the smaller MMORPGs:

• In Dungeons and Dragons Online, the 6th season of the Hardcore League starts and brings a Perma-Death mechanic.
• Black Desert receives the Awakening for the Drakania class in its latest update Dawn of Dragons (via massivelyop).
• The developers of Star Wars: The Old Republic reveal the first details about the next update 7.1, which will be released on August 2 (via mmorpg.com).
• The MMORPG with the craziest characters, Chimeraland, will receive new dungeons, events, and more in its latest update (via mmorpg.com).

Throne and Liberty will be released this year and Tower of Fantasy in two weeks

What happened with the MMORPGs in development?

• The anime MMORPG Tower of Fantasy surprises with a release announcement, and it is coming soon. The MMO will be released on August 10 and celebrates over 3 million pre-registrations.
• The highly anticipated action MMORPG Throne and Liberty, formerly known as Project TL, is expected to be released in 2022, the developer says.
• Our editor Alexander Leitsch was able to play the PvE MMORPG Embers Adrift and finds it has a very special charm.
• Riot Games purchased the sandbox MMORPG Hytale, which resembles Minecraft. The game was supposed to be released in 2023 but has now been postponed indefinitely.
• The cozy MMORPG Palia is starting its second Alpha (via mmorpg.com).
• Ashes of Creation showcases a new biome and proves that deserts don’t have to be boring (via massivelyop).
• The time-travel MMORPG Into the Echo is delaying its next alpha test due to technical difficulties (via massivelyop).
