To launch Wrath of the Lich King, Blizzard is offering free server transfers to WoW Classic. This is intended to prevent overcrowding on some realms. MeinMMO tells you everything you need to know about it.
What do the transfers cost and how long are they available? A server transfer normally costs you €25 in the WoW Classic shop. However, Blizzard is currently also offering free server transfers for certain realms.
The free transfers are only available for a limited time. In a forum post on September 25, Blizzard mentions that the transfers will only be available for 2 days – until September 27, the release date of WotLK Classic. However, Blizzard warns that if there is too much demand, it may end without notice.

Which server can I transfer to? You can buy a transfer via the shop icon in the lower left corner of the character selection. This also applies to the free transfers that you essentially “purchase” for €0.
You then have the choice of a starting server, your character, and a target server. However, the free transfers are subject to some restrictions. For the German realms, you have the following options:
- Everlook and Venoxis => Amnennar (PvP/French), Ashbringer (PvP/English), Chromie (PvE/Russian), Hydraxian Waterlords (RP-PvE/English), Lakeshire (PvE/German), Transcendence (PvP/German)
The same target realms are also available if you want to transfer from one of the following EU servers:
- Firemaw
- Flamegor
- Gehennas
- Golemagg
The RP server Hydraxian Waterlords offers a free transfer to Lakeshire, while the PvP server Thekal offers one to the new PvP server Jin’do.
If you purchase a transfer for €25, you can choose any European server that is not already closed due to high demand.

Requirements and limits – What to consider when transferring servers
In the free transfers 2021 in TBC Classic, there was a limit of 5,000 gold that you could take with a character to the new realm (via WoW Forums). There is no new information yet, so we assume the same limit.
Yes, we have not noticed any restrictions if you want to use a paid server transfer. Only the free transfers have a limited selection of target servers.
According to current information, you can only take a server transfer every 90 days. This limit, according to Support Article, does not apply to free transfers.
WotLK Classic goes live on the night of Monday, September 26, to Tuesday, September 27, at 0:00 CEST. From then on, you can explore the new areas, complete dungeons, and level up to 80. You can find all information about the release shortly here:
