The “World First” race in World of Warcraft is more exciting than ever. Two guilds are fighting for the lead – and they are incredibly close to each other.
The race for the First Kills in World of Warcraft is always an exciting event – and Patch 9.2, Eternity’s End, is no exception. The two best guilds in the world are currently in a neck-and-neck race to finally face the Jailer. Both professional guilds are only a few percentage points away from the final boss fight.
What’s going on in World of Warcraft right now? The “World First Race” is currently taking place in World of Warcraft. This is a recurring event that always occurs with the release of a new raid. The best guilds in the world try to defeat the current end boss – in this case, the Jailer – on the highest difficulty and ideally as the first guild worldwide. A real competition has emerged, which is now accompanied by live streams and commentary from casters.
The race also always generates increased interest in World of Warcraft – the streams often bring World of Warcraft to the top spots of the most-watched games on Twitch – currently, WoW is in 4th place, behind games like Elden Ring (via method. gg, as of: 21.03.2022, 1:00 PM).
What is the current status? The race is as exciting as it hasn’t been in a long time. This is mainly because the last 3 bosses of the raid could not be tested in advance. The professional guilds are therefore going into the final fights more or less “blind” and need to develop and refine tactics for themselves. While this is always the case to some extent, it is especially pronounced this time. The current top guilds with their respective kill counts:

In general, it must be said that Liquid has so far claimed the most kills. It was only at the last defeated boss, the Lords of Dread, that Echo managed to pull ahead and snag the kill first.
The current obstacle is the second-to-last boss, Rygelon. He proves to be particularly tough and poses great problems for the guilds. The best pulls so far have been from Liquid with 4.3% of remaining health and from Echo with 5.5% of health.
Both guilds are thus close to the kill and should soon march through to the last boss; the Jailer.
Blizzard is continually pushing patches and nerfs: As usual in World of Warcraft, the race for the First Kills is closely monitored by Blizzard. It often happens that the developers spontaneously deploy a hotfix that weakens certain bosses or corrects faulty mechanics. This leads to constant changes in the encounters and fine balance adjustments when a boss is deemed “unkillable”.
Weekly reset could bring the decision: Especially the European guilds are currently increasingly under time pressure. The current “WoW week” is coming to an end. In the American realms, the weekly reset already takes place late Tuesday afternoon, while in Europe it is scheduled for Wednesday morning.
This time, this comes not only with additional loot from the weekly reward chest but also with the unlocking of the “double legendary” feature. This should bring most characters a power increase of 5% to 15%, depending on class and specialization. This boost could rapidly lead to a decision and ensure that the guilds plow through the last bosses much faster.
It remains exciting in the “World First Race” – only one boss separates the players from facing the Jailer.
