Especially funny: If a Death Knight controlled the Druid with the necklace, he could even make him explode – just like he usually does with his zombie minions.
Blizzard acted quickly: The bug was fixed by Blizzard remarkably fast. Just 5 hours after the bug was discovered, there was already a hotfix that fixed this issue. The necklace can no longer be used on Druids and instead – as originally intended – outputs the error message that it is an invalid target.
The whole situation was definitely one of the more amusing bugs that World of Warcraft has had in recent years and quite funny – except perhaps for the affected Druids.
A completely different pet can currently be obtained by WoW hunters as Night Fae…
A bug in World of Warcraft made an old dream come true. Druids could be tamed and controlled by other players.
With a new expansion, bugs and issues keep creeping into World of Warcraft, or certain items have strange effects that hardly anyone thought about. One such item is the Amulet of Eternal Winter. It allowed its bearers to tame Druid players in shapeshift form.
What kind of item is this? The Amulet of Eternal Winter drops from the boss Hunter Altimor in Castle Nathria. The necklace is interesting for all classes that rely on haste and mastery. However, the necklace also has an interesting use effect:
“Charm the spirit of a wild animal in the outdoors of the Shadowlands. If successful, your target will assist you for 5 minutes (1 hour cooldown).”
Druids could be charmed: The absurdity was that not only wild animals could be charmed with it, but also Druid players in shapeshift form, who count as wild animals. This meant that in open PvP or in duels, one could take over an enemy Druid in cat form.
What were the consequences? For the Druid players, this was quite bitter. Normally, so powerful control effects in PvP last a maximum of 10 seconds, but with the Amulet of Eternal Winter, it was different. The Druid was controlled for the full duration of 5 minutes and was thus under the control of the other players. In the WoW subreddit, Chemenky shows how he gives commands to his new Druid pet.
So uhm, Charm of Eternal Winter works on druids? from r/wow
The Druid has no control over his character during this time and must carry out all commands. He helplessly watches as the Hunter gives him one task after another.
Especially funny: If a Death Knight controlled the Druid with the necklace, he could even make him explode – just like he usually does with his zombie minions.
