World of Warcraft is so significant that the MMORPG will now be immortalized in a museum exhibition.
Hardly any computer game has had such a strong impact on the entire world as World of Warcraft. It has united players across all borders (or turned them into bitter enemies). Thus, World of Warcraft – likely more than any other game – has influenced numerous people like hardly any other piece of software before.
This is more than enough reason for the operators of the “Computer History Museum” to feature World of Warcraft along with six other remarkable exhibits in the “Make Software: Change the World!” exhibition.
On the official pages of the museum, it says:
“Software enables computers, networks, and tablets to change our daily lives and almost every aspect of it. Our devices are brimming with outstanding potential. Software unleashes this potential.
In January 2017, the Computer History Museum will unveil its latest exhibition, “Make Software: Change the World!”. The exhibition explores the impact of software on the lives of people around the globe, through seven particularly relevant applications: MP3, Photoshop, MRI, Car Crash Simulation, Wikipedia, Texting, and World of Warcraft. Meet the creators of these fantastic technologies and the users whose lives have changed – sometimes forever.”
So, anyone planning a trip to America soon may want to catch a glimpse of the museum.
