The number is small, but the content is great. The new patch for World of Warcraft is likely to go down in the history of MMORPGs.
Anyone who has known World of Warcraft for years knows how the patches work. The updates with all the numbers after the first point stand for major content patches – like 11.1 or 11.2. The patches with additional numbers afterwards, like 11.1.5, only bring minor changes or system improvements.
But this week, Patch 11.2.7 titled “The Warning” is released, and it could be the “greatest small” patch in the history of World of Warcraft.
When will Patch 11.2.7 be released? Patch 11.2.7 will be available on December 3, 2025, here in Europe. On the day of the update, there will be maintenance from 03:00 to 11:00, although this is often finished earlier. In the USA, the patch goes live half a day earlier due to time differences and local maintenance.
Patch 11.2.7 brings housing, story quests, Pandaren armor, and more
Prologue campaign for Midnight
The intro campaign for Midnight already explains how the next expansion begins. You will accompany the Windrunner family, experience some eerie visions, and find out what a certain former banshee queen has been up to in recent years…
Lorewalking: The story of the elves
When you speak with the teaching master Cho, he has a new story for you. In a series of quests, you will learn what defines the blood elves, how the attack of the goats happened, and how there were later further splinter groups – like the void elves. The quest line is perfect because the next expansion takes place in Quel’thalas and heavily involves the blood elves.
Legacy armor of the Pandaren
For many years, the furry gourmet eaters had to wait, now it is finally happening. The Pandaren are getting their own legacy armor and a related quest line. In this, you will experience what defines Pandaren and how they have integrated into the Horde or Alliance over the years.
New leveling experience – for returners and newcomers
The Isle of the Exiled has been fundamentally renewed. The original quests have been revised, so you now explore the island alongside heroes like Jaina Proudmoore and Kalecgos, undertaking your first attempts in World of Warcraft there. The revision makes sense because it now seamlessly transitions into the expansion “Dragonflight” and you already know some of the characters that appear there.
But that’s not all: there are also innovations in questing in Dragonflight. All raids from Dragonflight now have a “story mode” version. As soon as you have completed a zone quest line to the point that you need to visit the raid, you can do it solo. This way, you can really experience all the story content of Dragonflight.
And it doesn’t stop there. Because if you want, you can finish a new, drastically shortened version of the main quest line in “The War Within” starting at level 70. This way, you can complete the campaign of The War Within much faster, experiencing only the most important story moments and still reach level 80. Perfect for refreshing knowledge for Midnight.
Early access to player housing
Anyone who has pre-ordered the new expansion Midnight can also start with housing immediately. All others will have to wait until the addon is released for their own house, but they can already look at other players’ houses or start collecting decorations.
However, note that this feature is still in early access. Not all content is available yet, and there will surely be bugs and minor issues. This should be understood as a major “live test” for Blizzard.
Combat Guild
After many years of waiting, the Combat Guild is returning, but only a week later, on December 10. Then you can prove how well you can handle various challenging NPC fights to earn unique rewards like mounts, pets, or transmogs. This time, you can also activate additional “affixes” to make fights harder, such as winning without taking a single hit or while your character is on fire.
Turbulent Timeways
Last but not least, the “Turbulent Timeways” are also starting – this is a bonus event where a different timewalker is active each week. This time, there is also the new “Shadowlands” timewalker, where you can replay some of the popular dungeons. As is customary with the Turbulent Timeways, there is a heroic item from the current raid (Manaforging Omega) every week for 10 weeks and, of course, some fancy mounts.
No matter how you look at it, December is likely to offer quite a bit in World of Warcraft – at least if you are interested in all types of content. However, a bit more patience is required until the next expansion, because World of Warcraft Midnight will not be released until March 2026.
