Even more solo content in World of Warcraft. Soon there will be Depths, but they are so vast that you won’t be able to conquer them in one go.
If you had to choose just one feature from the expansion “The War Within” that can be regarded as a complete success, it would probably be the Depths. Although the Depths can also be tackled with a group, they have been a true content revelation for solo fans. Here, there were not only challenging encounters but also really strong loot at raid level.
Blizzard wants to expand on this and offer even more to solo fans: That’s why soon Labyrinths are coming, which are essentially “Mega-Depths”.
What has been announced? In a video about the “State of Azeroth,” the developers talked about upcoming features. This included both WoW Classic and Midnight. One feature that was still unknown is the so-called “Labyrinths.” This is still a working title, but is supposed to offer a new type of content, primarily aimed at solo players.
Mega-Depths for mega-long adventures
How do Labyrinths work? Labyrinths are supposed to function similarly to Depths, meaning a kind of adventure and dungeon experience that can be tackled alone or in a group. Unlike Depths, however, the progress within a Labyrinth is not reset between visits.
A Labyrinth is expected to be many times larger than a Depth, so you don’t have to play through everything in one go. Instead, there are different areas, and you can choose which area to complete first and which you want to take more time on.
How exactly the rewards will work, whether loot is only given upon complete completion or after finishing each sub-area, remains to be seen.
When are Labyrinths coming? Labyrinths are announced for Patch 12.1.5 – in the middle of Season 2 of Midnight. This is likely still a few months away, giving Blizzard enough time to continue working on the feature and incorporate any feedback from the community. This feature is scheduled to be implemented in Fall 2026, specifically after the BlizzCon in September.
