A change in World of Warcraft means that even heroic dungeons can provide really good loot.
With Patch 10.2 Watcher of Dreams, Blizzard wants to refine the system around gear and item level in WoW a bit more. Therefore, there are also some adjustments that mainly affect players who are at the easier end of dungeon difficulties. Because even the “easy” dungeons will soon lead to a weekly reward.
What was said? In an interview with MrGM, Assistant Game Director Morgan Day and Senior Game Director Patrick Scarborough discussed the reward systems of WoW and how they will change in Patch 10.2. In the future, heroic and “Mythic 0” dungeons will be significantly more attractive, as they contribute to the weekly reward from the vault in Valdrakken.
The vault, sometimes also referred to as the “Weekly Chest,” is a reward system in World of Warcraft. Once a week, characters can choose a gear reward from a larger selection. How many items are available and how strong they are depends on the content previously completed. More difficult content yields stronger options.
What does this mean? In plain language, this means that in Patch 10.2 not only “Mythic+” dungeons will fill your weekly vault, but also:
- Heroic dungeons
- Mythic dungeons (“M0”)
- Timewalking dungeons (count as “heroic”)
So, if you just want to “fill” the vault, you can also simply run heroic or timewalking dungeons to still receive a solid reward from the weekly chest. At the same time, it makes it more worthwhile to participate in timewalking events to also do something good for the weekly vault.
It’s important to note: Even if you visit timewalking dungeons, the weekly reward from the chest resulting from it is a loot piece from the current season – and not from the timewalking dungeon.
What do you think of the change? Is it a good thing that characters can also receive good rewards from easier content? Or is this the wrong way?
Patch 10.1.7 is now playable – there’s a lot to do there too.
