World of Warcraft has experienced many ups and downs. But which moments were the worst? Which feature or content frustrated you the most?
In almost 16 years, World of Warcraft has seen many ups and downs. While we often ask which expansion of the MMORPG has been the best in recent years, the question of the worst, most terrible time is rarely asked. That’s exactly what we want to do today and find out which expansion of WoW particularly annoyed you – and why.
After all, each expansion not only had a whole range of features but also always had one or two quirks that, in retrospect, did not really sit well with a larger part of the community. Here are a few examples that come up repeatedly:
Vanilla: The original game was still unrefined. The balancing was a catastrophe. Mechanics like endless “Corpse Runs” consumed players’ time abundantly. Probably also a reason why many of you stopped playing with WoW Classic.
Burning Crusade: Endless attunement quests, a lot of reputation grinding, and the introduction of “Space Aliens” with the Draenei disturbed many players.
Wrath of the Lich King: Raids were divided into normal and heroic, the group finder was introduced, and obtaining all rewards from the Argent Tournament was one of the longest grinds in the entire game.
Cataclysm: The popular, classic world was destroyed, the origins of WoW irreversibly ruined.
Mists of Pandaria: Hundreds of daily quests per day, the Asian look, and the cuddly pandas did not appeal to many players at launch.
Warlords of Draenor: Too few activities in the endgame and a garrison system where you basically had to stand at the mission table all the time if you wanted to be effective.
Legion: A tiring, random system for distributing legendary items, the grind for artifacts
Battle for Azeroth: Too many ill-conceived systems like Island Expeditions and Warfronts. Plus, a lot of effects on items, such as Azerite abilities, that took further and further away from the gameplay experience of the original class. And of course, Corruption effects.
