Tank, Heal or DPS? What role do you play in World of Warcraft and why? We want to find out why you play what you play!
In World of Warcraft, the “traditional” role model that has established itself in MMORPGs prevails – the “Holy Trinity”. This means that all classes and specializations can at least roughly be divided into the three core tasks: Tank, Healer, Damage Dealer (DPS).
The core tasks are simple and almost self-explanatory:
- Tanks draw the attacks of enemies towards themselves and protect the rest of the team.
- Healers keep the group alive and negate negative effects.
- Damage Dealers eliminate enemies with powerful attacks.
Traditionally, this has historically led to a shortage of Tanks and Healers in World of Warcraft. Although a group needs three times more DPS characters than Healers and Tanks, DPS characters are usually represented by a factor many times higher.
As a result, this means that when forming a group, the DPS slots are filled relatively quickly, while Healers and Tanks are scarce and sought after for a long time.
Therefore, we want to know what role you play in World of Warcraft.
Please note in this survey that we are interested in the role you currently fill primarily. So please specify your role that you have played the most in recent weeks – secondary characters and “Sunday twinks” should not be considered.
Why this survey? We want to find out the ratio of Tanks, Healers, and DPS characters among the readers of MeinMMO. Furthermore, we want to find out why certain roles are preferred or why other roles are neglected.
