Blizzard has announced in a new post that you won’t be able to complete everything immediately at the release of WoW Dragonflight. Some content will only be available a day later. The reason is that no one should feel rushed.
What is not available? The new expansion Dragonflight will be released on Tuesday, November 29. From then on, you can level your characters to level 70 and explore the new areas. In a forum post, Blizzard explains that some features will not be available:
- Mythic dungeons
- Epic rewards from the Siege of Dragonbane Keep chest
- Epic, Rare, and Uncommon items from the Great Hunt rewards
- the weekly quests “Community Feast,” “Aiding the Accord,” and “Show Yer Mettle”
- weekly profession quests in Valdrakken
- weekly PvP quests that grant honor
Rewards for the weekly quests include gear, gold, and a new currency that you can exchange for gear, mounts, and recipes.
Content such as the weekly reward chest for Mythic+ is unaffected, since Mythic Keystone dungeons will open their doors later anyway. This coincides with the first raid in the week of December 12.
When can I play the content? Starting from the first weekly reset on Wednesday, November 30, the rewards will be unlocked. Since Dragonflight starts on Tuesday at 12:00 AM, you will have to wait a little over a day before you can start.
While the waiting time is not excessively long, the delay means that especially fast players will not be able to set themselves apart too much from the crowd.
In the preparatory gameplay trailer, Blizzard once again showcases the key features of Dragonflight:
“We want players to level up without feeling rushed”
Why do I have to wait so “long”? Blizzard states in the official post that the change ensures that everyone can level at their own pace and not feel rushed.
In previous releases, it was the case that players reached level 70 on the first day and were able to stock up on weekly rewards before the first reset – and shortly after again. This is no longer possible.
As leveling in Dragonflight goes relatively quickly, by the end of the first week, anyone who wants to can reach level 70 and claim the rewards. This way, no one will fall too far behind.
This is what players are saying: In the forum, the decision is received very well. Many players welcome the decision, but also say that they would have leveled at “their own pace” anyway.
Others are already predicting that at the release next week, the first players will complain that they have nothing to do anymore and that Blizzard should have announced it, even though that is exactly what has happened.
