World of Warcraft seems to be planning to say goodbye to Titanforging. However, the problem is that the developers have not found an alternative.
With the introduction of Patch 8.2 Rise of Azshara, some YouTubers and other content creators traveled to Blizzard and were able to talk with the developers. Apparently, there was also a discussion about an aspect of the game: Titanforging. According to Blizzard’s developers, it should be removed. However, it’s not that easy.
What was said? On the Twitch channel of “Taliesin and Evitel,” it was discussed that at the meeting a WoW developer (whose name is not exactly known) said that they would like to remove Titanforging from the game.
The problem is that there is currently no system to replace Titanforging. The development team is tasked with creating something new that could replace Titanforging. Simply removing it without a replacement is not an option.
What is Titanforging? Almost all items in the current content of World of Warcraft have a chance to be “Titanforged” or “Warforged”.
An item then has a significantly higher item level than normal or has additional attributes, such as a small percentage of lifesteal or an extra socket.
When can we expect this? There is still no specific date for the implementation, as no solutions currently exist. Therefore, Titanforging should not be expected to be removed before Patch 9.0 (the start of the next addon).
Titanforging is controversial, there are pros and cons
The players of WoW are roughly divided into two camps. Some support Titanforging, while others strictly oppose it.
This is what supporters say: Titanforging ensures that even in seemingly irrelevant content, such as easy dungeons, an upgrade occasionally drops. The joy about this is then great.
For example, someone who just wanted to help a friend in a dungeon and suddenly receives an upgrade feels motivated and positively reinforced.

This is what critics say: Titanforging is said to make the hardest content insignificant. If players can already obtain gear from easy dungeons by luck that is otherwise only available in the mythical version, then the gear from the mythical version is simultaneously worth less.
Moreover, the system relies too much on chance, and one cannot work towards a clear reward.
