New information about the Vulpera from WoW: Battle for Azeroth is causing excitement. Will the adorable foxes be an allied race?
With Battle for Azeroth, there will be a lot of new playable races in World of Warcraft in the form of Allied Races. Four of them are already playable if you meet the requirements.
During BlizzCon 2017, the first glimpses of the two continents of Battle for Azeroth were granted, and one race caught the attention of fans of cute creatures: the Vulpera.
These humanoid foxes will at least play a role as quest givers in the next expansion. However, in the latest alpha build of Battle for Azeroth, data miners have found something interesting: The game data for the Vulpera is located in the same directory as that of other playable races!
Immediate discussions started on the official forums and Reddit whether the Vulpera would thus be virtually confirmed as an allied race.
Blizzard dampens hopes
The heated debate led to Community Manager Ornyx needing to intervene to clarify something:
Blizzard intends to treat several races in World of Warcraft as “playable races” in the future, as this gives developers much more freedom to customize the NPCs. This would not immediately imply that the Vulpera would also become a playable race. All information from datamining should always be taken with caution to avoid creating false hopes.
However, it is also possible that Blizzard intends to mislead with this statement to preserve the surprise.
Would you want to play as the Vulpera? Or do they have the “Pandaren factor” for you and thus have no place in World of Warcraft?
