The highlights of the week:
- Patch 10.2.7 has been released for modern WoW. You can expect new quests related to the Dark Heart, traditional armors for trolls and Draenei, and various detailed improvements.
- The big highlight of 10.2.7, however, will follow on May 16, 2024. Then, with Remix: Mists of Pandaria, a limited-time event will start where you can quickly level newly created level 10 characters to 70 and earn special rewards.
- For copyright infringements in World of Warcraft, Activision Blizzard must pay 18 million US dollars. The affected patent involves communication technology that allows simultaneous sharing of information between computers.

ESO does not feel appreciated enough
This is what happened with the big MMORPGs:
- Zenimax CEO Matt Firor criticized that The Elder Scrolls Online is not mentioned when it comes to the successful service games of this time. After all, more than two billion US dollars in revenue has been generated since its release in 2014.
- The developers of The Elder Scrolls Online have presented the area of Westedgelands from the upcoming chapter Gold Road in detail (via Zenimax).
- The well-known streamer Josh Strife Hayes explains why he refuses to promote WoW: The War Within for money on his channel. Spoiler: The MMORPG from Blizzard is, in his view, not good enough to stand behind such advertising.
- Until May 13, 2024, at 7:00 PM, you can play WoW Classic without an active subscription or playtime (via Blizzard).
- With The War Within, Blizzard is once again revamping the professions of WoW. Engineers can look forward to particularly powerful recipes. Moreover, it is clear: the story of the new expansion deals with the future of Anduin Wrynn. By the way: The alpha of this expansion has been expanded with new content, including the leveling phase up to level 78 and the battleground “Deephaul Ravine” (via Blizzard).
- MeinMMO has listed ten things you should do before Final Fantasy XIV: Dawntrail is released.
- On May 15, 2024, the Gold Saucer Festival will start in Final Fantasy XIV (via Lodestone). A day earlier, on May 14, 2024, the event “Mog Mog Collection – Dimensional Origins – Part 2” is expected (via Lodestone).
This is what happened with the small MMORPGs:
- The Secret World is getting a tabletop spinoff, which is based on the rule system of Savage Worlds. The related Kickstarter campaign had reached its minimum goal within a few hours.
- The open-world sandbox MMORPG Ravendawn is set to receive a comprehensive update in the coming weeks. New features will include guild wars, forts, castles, world bosses, and more.
- The MMORPG oldie Tibia from Germany has almost 30 years under its belt but continues to collect increasing revenues – 2023 was a record year. In May 2024, they had their first 100 employees in Regensburg, and in the coming months, they plan to hire more.
- The MMORPG “The Wagadu Chronicles” started with a successful Kickstarter campaign plus regional funding. The developers have now announced that the servers of the early access version will go offline forever on May 18, 2024.
- In DC Universe Online, Spring Event is running from May 9 to May 29, 2024 (via official website).
- For Fractured Online, the new update “The Invasion” has been released (via Steam). The content package brings blood and hell demons as new races specifically designed for PvP fans. Additionally, it caused trouble due to a new pay-to-win mechanic.
- A new update has been announced for the MMORPG oldie Runes of Magic (via Gameforge). “Shadows over the Altar” brings among other things a 12-player raid as well as fresh dungeon content.
- On May 11, 2024, the new expansion for Eve Online will be released. Equinox revises null security space and allows you to create custom skins (via CCP Games).
- You can now purchase “The Corsairs of Umbar” as well as the class of the sailor using points in the LOTRO store (via Twitter).
This is what happened with the MMORPGs in development:
- The developers of The Quinfall present the versatile world of the MMORPG in a new video, showing Viking villages and desert camps, among other things.
- For the alpha of Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen, the third season of chapter 1 has been released on May 11, 2024. In a trailer, the developers introduce the innovations (via Youtube).
- According to a financial report from Kakao Games, the two MMORPGs ArcheAge 2 and Chrono Odyssey are expected to be released in 2025.
