With the upcoming Patch 8.1, unlocking allied races in World of Warcraft will be easier. We will reveal what is changing.
The unlocking of allied races is still a pain point for many players of World of Warcraft. Especially the “old” races, namely Lightforged Draenei, Highmountain Tauren, Nightborne, and Void Elves require extensive farming. In the developer Q&A, the Game Director of WoW has shared plans on how this should change.
What bothers the players? Unlocking many allied races requires reputation with old factions. To earn this reputation, outdated quests must be completed, which provide no benefit other than the reputation. Since the quests are trivial, they are also not enjoyable. Outdated content must be farmed for several weeks.
What will change? With Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, Blizzard will grant bonus reputation with the factions necessary for the allied races. Currently, it is planned that quests of the respective faction (such as Highmountain and Army of the Light) will grant double reputation. This would drastically reduce the required farm time for unlocking the allied races.
The War Campaign also gets a boost: A similar bonus is planned for the War Campaign. Since it will be expanded with Patch 8.1, players should be able to progress faster through the old quests if they are latecomers. For this reason, the individual chapters of the War Campaign will be filled with bonus reputation, allowing players to almost seamlessly accept the next quest.
This significantly increases reputation gain with the 7th Legion (Alliance) and the Oathbound (Horde). This will also unlock Dark Iron Dwarves and Mag’har faster.
The changes will go live with Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance. There is no release date yet.
Are you looking forward to the more accessible allied races? Or is it unfair that they will be easier to obtain in the future?
