The six new races in WoW do not have their own starting areas. But how will the story of the races be told?
World of Warcraft will soon receive its 7th expansion. In “Battle for Azeroth”, there is no new class, but a total of six new “Allied Races”, three of which will join the Horde and three the Alliance.
Those who wish can soon traverse Azeroth as Void Elf, Highmountain Tauren, Nightborne, Dark Iron Dwarf, Zandalari Troll, or Lightforged Draenei and start already at level 20. This has the great advantage that new characters can immediately roam the world on their mount and the long foot travel during the starting areas is eliminated.You can find more information about the Allied Races here!
Main character receives “Intro Quests” for Allied Races
However, this also has a certain drawback that many story fans will not like. The Allied Races do not have their own starting areas. This means there are no proper introductory quests that address fundamental issues within the society of Void Elves or the “first steps” of a Tauren from Highmountain.
It won’t be completely without introduction, though. This will be experienced by the main character and not by the actual character of the allied race. The respective main character of a player must first unlock the allied races. This unlocking is tied to a quest line that explains exactly why a race joins the faction and how this decision came about. This should provide enough story to get a good insight into the new races.
How exactly this will unfold, we will probably find out at the earliest in the beta of Battle for Azeroth early in 2018.
