Sylvanas invites to the bloodletting. The vampire elves of the San’layn could join the Horde in WoW. We have all the info.
With Battle for Azeroth, the war between the Alliance and the Horde rages mainly on the two new continents of Zandalar and Kul Tiras, but all of Azeroth is drawn into the conflicts. Many races of World of Warcraft must choose a side and join the factions.
On the side of the Horde, there seem to be new, very “special” allies: The San’layn.
What are San’layn? The San’layn were originally created by the Lich King Arthas from the shattered forces of the blood elf Kael’thas Sunstrider. In simple terms, they are vampiric beings. They feed on blood, which is also the source of their magic.
In the latest patch of the Battle for Azeroth beta, new text passages were extracted. According to this, “Blood Prince Dreven” joins the Horde with his forces. He was granted a chance by Sylvanas to prove his loyalty to the Horde.
Princess Talanji is skeptical and does not think it’s good that the Horde is making pacts with such creatures. Rokhan then asks the Zandalari princess to give the “San’layn a chance. They have no home anymore. If they can work with us, then they have a home in the Horde. If not, then they should disappear.”
San’layn as allied people of the Horde?
After the revelation of the text passages, there was immediately much speculation about whether the San’layn could also become an allied people, who would be missing in Warcraft with their “cool vampire look”.
What speaks for the San’layn? The San’layn have been a wish for many players since their introduction in Wrath of the Lich King, who would like to see something “vampiric” in World of Warcraft. With BfA, it would be the perfect time to give this people a new home and perhaps even make them playable. However, they must first prove their loyalty to the Horde – and not to the Lich King Bolvar.
What speaks against the San’layn? The existing San’layn are likely to be very limited in number and, similar to the Forsaken some time ago, have no way to reproduce. Furthermore, the San’layn would be another elf race. After the Horde has just recently accepted the Nightborne into their ranks, having another elf race would be rather unlikely. Last but not least, there are still no suitable models or hints for players.
At this time, it seems that the San’layn will at least temporarily join the Horde, but will not become a playable race.
What do you think about Sylvanas giving the San’layn a chance? Would you like to be able to play “elf vampires” in WoW? Or should they just remain NPCs and not become playable?
