In the latest update of World of Warcraft, you have to learn how to fly again. This is much easier in Zereth Mortis with patch 9.2 than before. MeinMMO explains what you need to do.
Why do I have to learn to fly again? On February 23, the new patch 9.2 for World of Warcraft was released. This brings you to a new area: Zereth Mortis, where prototypes for all creations are designed.
At the beginning, you cannot fly in this area yet and can only use ground mounts and the sparsely placed flight points. You need to unlock this ability first. Your ability to fly in the Shadowlands works independently of this.
When can I fly? From March 16, 2022, you can unlock the flying ability. The time restriction is due to the fact that you need to complete part of the story campaign.
This will only continue weekly, and starting from week 4 the corresponding chapter will be available. You can complete everything else beforehand. MeinMMO explains what you need to do.
Unlocking flying in patch 9.2 – Here’s how
This is what you need to do: To be able to fly, you need the achievement “Revealing the Secrets”. This is a meta-achievement that requires you to complete several other achievements:
- Explore Zereth Mortis – Discover all areas of the zone
- Suspicious Collections – Find 5 hidden treasures
- Path of Enlightenment – Complete the stories “Problems with Small Pets”, “Not All Are Lost” and “Pilgrims Welcome Again”
- Legends of Exile – Read all volumes of “Firim in Exile”
- Adventurers of Zereth Mortis – Defeat 10 rare enemies in Zereth Mortis; here are 3 tips to quickly reach rare enemies
- A Means to an End – Complete the storyline “A Means to an End”
How do I complete the tasks? You complete the campaign steps while questing in Zereth Mortis. Just follow the questline until you receive the achievements. The exploration and Path of Enlightenment should already be completed by simply completing the quests in Zereth Mortis.
Rare enemies and treasures can usually be found if you just wander around the area for a while, unless you are particularly unlucky. The addon “Handy Notes” helps you find the objectives if you are still missing them. On MeinMMO, you can find a list of the best addons for Shadowlands.
The Legends of Exile are partially hidden and not easy to find. If they are not there, the respawn time is roughly up to 10 minutes. We have created a map for you that shows you all the locations at a glance:
What’s next? In the week after unlocking flying, from March 23, you can get your second legendary item: Unity, the legendary effect of your covenant. You then wear this in addition to another legendary and thus receive a considerable boost to strength. Here are some useful links on the topic:

Later, you will also be able to craft set pieces if you had bad luck in the weekly chest or in the new raid by then. Details on this will follow, but it is already worth collecting strong items in the corresponding slots – especially if they have a socket.
