In WoW: The War Within, you must also unlock flying first with a “Pathfinder” achievement. We reveal what you need to do for that.
At the start of each new expansion, there is a big discussion. While some hope that players will be forced to travel on the ground, others ask to be able to fly right away. Both have advantages and disadvantages, and Blizzard has mostly taken a middle path here. At the beginning, you can only walk (or dragon ride), and the regular flying is unlocked later.
This is also the case in “The War Within”. However, the conditions are simpler than ever before.
How do you unlock flying? As in previous expansions, you need to complete a “Pathfinder” achievement in The War Within. However, the requirements for this are quite low. At the same time, this achievement is already included in the game at launch and does not come with a later patch.
You can unlock flying immediately if you wish. The necessary achievements are:
- Isle of Thorn – Complete the main questline on the Isle of Thorn.
- The Echoing Depths – Complete the main questline in the Echoing Depths.
- Healing Plunge – Complete the main questline in Healing Plunge.
- Azj-Kahet – Complete the main questline in Azj-Kahet.
- Explorer of Khaz Algar – Discover all regions in Khaz Algar and uncover all locations on the map.
In short, this means: You only need to play through the campaign and uncover all areas in The War Within. Once you have done this, all characters on your account can fly at any time.
When can you dragon ride? Dragon riding, or as it is called in The War Within: “Dynamic Flying,” is available immediately upon entering the new areas, just as it was basically the case in Dragonflight. So, you can explore the area flying right from the start; only the “old” flying needs to be unlocked first. More information about The War Within can be found in our extensive overview.
What do you think of this quick way to unlock flying? A good solution, or should there not even be these requirements?
