Players of WoW are already looking forward to flying again in Shadowlands. But how does that work? And when can you do it?

More and more players are slowly joining World of Warcraft: Shadowlands at the new maximum level 60. As endgame activities are unlocked, one has to travel a lot through the world. Some already miss the ability to simply fly to their destination. After all, flying is still not possible in Shadowlands. But when will it be available and how will it be unlocked? We have all the known info.
Unlocking flying in Shadowlands
When will flying be unlocked? Flying is currently not possible in Shadowlands. However, this is expected to change with the release of the first major content update, namely Patch 9.1. There is no release date for it yet.
Initial speculation suggests a release of Patch 9.1 at the end of Q1 2021 or a little later (March/April 2021). However, a date has not been confirmed yet.
How can you unlock flying? This will be possible through the glory system of your chosen Covenant. The system will be expanded in upcoming patches, and the campaign will be further developed. A reward during this campaign is the unlocking of the flying ability in Shadowlands. Those who diligently follow the Covenant campaign and increase their glory each week will be able to fly in Patch 9.1.
How does one increase glory? This happens basically on the side. Each week, your Covenant has two weekly quests for saving souls and collecting 1,000 Anima. Complete them to earn a glory level. Often, a new chapter of the Covenant campaign will be unlocked afterward, which means another glory level.
Latecomers can increase their glory faster by completing dungeons or their daily missions, which are also available in the Covenant Sanctum.
Is flying account-wide? Yes. Once one of your characters unlocks flying in Shadowlands, all your characters can fly in Bastion, Maldraxxus, Revendreth, and Ardenweald. The unlocking applies to the entire account.
Do you have to farm reputation? No. Farming reputation will not be a requirement. According to current information, flying is solely tied to your reputation level with your Covenant. While some steps do require a bit of farming, it is significantly less repetitive than repeatedly completing the same world quests.
In Legion and Battle for Azeroth, farming reputation to fly was one of the major points of criticism. With Shadowlands, that will be a thing of the past. Here, you just need to increase your reputation – which every player will do, as it is one of the main activities of Shadowlands.
