A two-handed mace from the new Uldir raid in World of Warcraft is probably just a cosmetic weapon. Blizzard is adjusting the item level, causing outrage among players.
Update: Blizzard has responded to player complaints. The nerf of the cosmetic version of Khor, Hammer of the Guardian has been reverted for players who already own the hammer.
Players who obtained Khor earlier will retain it at the higher item level. If Khor, Hammer of the Guardian drops again, it will be a cosmetic item.
If you destroyed Khor after the nerf, you can contact customer support to have it restored.
We’re reverting the previous hotfix to Khor, Hammer of the Guardian and implementing a different fix for the issue. Details here: https://t.co/T1Y2PnvOJN

Original announcement – Uldir loot weakened: In a hotfix, Blizzard weakened an item from the new raid Uldir. Plate wearers are infuriated and annoyed by the developers’ decision.
Which item is it? Khor, Hammer of the Guardian is a two-handed mace dropped by the first boss Taloc. Khor is one of the two-handed strength weapons that can drop in Uldir.
Khor has two versions: Khor, Hammer of the Guardian and Khor, Hammer of the Corrupted. The Hammer of the Guardian is the transmog version, while the Hammer of the Corrupted is intended for combat.
As further clarification:
The item we changed was a special alternate version of the mace that doesn’t appear in the Dungeon Journal. “Khor, Hammer of the Corrupted” remains entirely unchanged and is a standard raid weapon. https://t.co/nD1S2nScl3— WarcraftDevs (@WarcraftDevs) September 6, 2018
What happened? Players received Khor as standard loot from the first Uldir boss Taloc. In normal mode, the mace could drop with an item level of 355+, thus providing an upgrade for many players.
However, with a hotfix, Blizzard has now lowered the item level of the item to 120+. The mace no longer drops as a usable weapon. The item level has even been adjusted for players who had actively used the mace.
Why did Blizzard do this? The decision was made because it was an error from the beginning that Khor could drop with an item level of 355+. Khor is actually a transmog item that is only there for its appearance.
To clarify its status as a cosmetic weapon, Blizzard has now lowered the item level.
Hi there, there was a recent hotfix which changed the iLvl of the item to better reflect its status as a transmog item. The hotfix blog hasn’t been updated yet with this information, but I expect it will be soon. ^AX

Change outrages the community
Many players are now outraged that Khor was simply weakened overnight without prior notice. In the official forum, the outrage is significant. It was not clear before the change that the weapon was a cosmetic item.
Particularly, plate wearers were excited about the new weapon and had already discarded their old weapons, thinking they had received a better one. Now, they are completely without a usable weapon, and some players cannot participate in endgame content like the raid Uldir.
The reactions in the forums became so intense that Vrakthris had to delete many posts due to insults.
How to get your old weapon back
The support forum agent Vrakthris is trying to calm users in the forums, as the change has caused quite a stir. He explained why Blizzard made the change and gives tips on what affected players can do now.
If you also wore Khor and destroyed your old weapon, you can use World of Warcraft’s item restoration feature. This is, however, only available once every 15 days.
If you used it shortly before, you can simply open a ticket for loot distribution and discuss your problem there, according to Vrakthris. He advises to mention that you want your old weapon back. If you enchanted Khor, you can also retrieve the materials for the enchantment.
