The Twitch streamer Asmongold explains why the decision of World of Warcraft to allow the Alliance and Horde to play together is so important. It’s a huge step, he says.
World of Warcraft is undergoing a major change and well-known streamers are also addressing the topic. Asmongold explains why he finds this decision so significant – and why it is so crucial for the future of World of Warcraft. Because in Azeroth, the Horde and Alliance will soon be able to play side by side.
Who is this? Most WoW players are likely familiar with Asmongold by now. He is considered the largest streamer on Twitch in the World of Warcraft category, although his streams are often viewed controversially. From time to time, he shares his opinions on games like WoW, as well as Final Fantasy and other MMORPGs.
What is it about? In one of his latest videos, Asmongold talks about the biggest change looming in Azeroth: With Patch 9.2.5, players from the Alliance and Horde will be able to join forces to embark on adventures together. They will then be able to visit dungeons, raids, and battlegrounds together. The feature is optional and is primarily intended to create more opportunities. We have explained all the details to you here.
“The best thing Blizzard can do for the Alliance”
What did Asmongold say? Asmongold is extremely positive about this announcement, even though he believes it should have happened years ago.
This is a damn big deal. I’m really excited about it. I’m very happy. […] I think this is the best thing Blizzard could have done for the Alliance.
The reason for this is that the Alliance is the noticeably more inactive faction with fewer players in the endgame area on most realm pools. This problem has been evident for years, as more and more players switched to the Horde due to the stronger racial abilities at the time. This triggered a vicious cycle.
Fewer players from the Alliance found groups, which led them to switch to the Horde to find a group again.
Later he says:
There are many people out there who play Horde because it’s just more convenient. […] If the choice of faction no longer affects gameplay options and no longer restricts who you can play with, then that’s just a big deal. […] It’s the players who have already abolished factions. And the players decided that by simply playing on the same side.
The change will ensure that every player can choose the character and faction that they visually prefer and with which they feel the most identity. Barriers between friends who might be on different sides will also be almost completely removed. Ultimately, it could even help to rebalance the factions – because one can simply play what one wants, without being excluded from the endgame later.
Do you agree with Asmongold? Or do you have a completely different opinion on this?
