The Tower Torghast in WoW: Shadowlands is causing criticism. Players are dissatisfied with the latest changes – rightly so?
The Tower Torghast is one of the new endgame features of World of Warcraft Shadowlands. Players can work their way through increasingly challenging levels to obtain Soul Ash for crafting a legendary item. However, what meant fun in the first weeks has now become a burden for many players.
What is the problem? The Tower Torghast was massively praised in the first weeks of WoW: Shadowlands, but not much of that remains now. The reasons for this are a series of hotfixes implemented by Blizzard. In recent weeks, Blizzard has:
- Nerfed particularly strong anima bonuses
- Significantly increased the health points of almost all enemies
- Increased the strength of bosses and final bosses on levels
In summary, Blizzard has made the enemies stronger and the players weaker, resulting in longer runs and tougher battles.
Here are the opinions of the players: For many, Torghast no longer feels like fun, but like mandatory work, or a “chore”. Therefore, some are now calling Torghast “Choreghast”. There are several reasons for this, but the buffs to the enemies that Blizzard has rolled out in recent days weigh the heaviest. On almost all levels, enemies now have more health points, extending individual runs.
Some players are extremely frustrated. For instance, user Justin_ml reports in the WoW subreddit that he spent nearly 90 minutes on Layer 7, only to be killed by the final boss within 5 seconds and be completely hopeless – with an item level of 198, which is currently quite good. Other players agree and have had similar experiences that lead to massive frustration.
After 1.5hrs in tourghast layer 7 I die to the final boss in 5 seconds. from r/wow
In the WoW subreddit, there are now numerous posts with up to nearly 10,000 upvotes pleading to Blizzard not to ruin Torghast and to make it the fun game mode it could be again.
Are there dissenting voices? Yes. Some players believe that Torghast should indeed be difficult and that you should occasionally lose. This is simply part of “roguelike” games. These players argue that no one is forced to complete Torghast at the highest possible level. Those who fail on level 7 or 8 should simply play a lower level. After all, the highest levels grant only a small amount of Soul Ash and are therefore probably only really mandatory for participants in the “World First” race.
How can Torghast be saved? The community has many ideas on how to make Torghast more appealing and interesting again. Firstly, it is requested that the last hotfix be reversed – it had equipped enemies with significantly more health points. Secondly, players wish that the bonus abilities become a bit crazier and more powerful. After all, Torghast is a closed area, and here one could completely forget about balance and try out crazy abilities and feel overpowered.
Are you still having fun in Torghast? What do you think about the buffs that Blizzard has made?
