For a new achievement in World of Warcraft, you should behave like a typical DPS: just stand in the fire and die.
If you were to ask healers what DPS players are best at in World of Warcraft, the answer would probably be: “Standing in the fire and not moving away from it.” In most cases, this is a mistake and leads to either the healer drastically aging in seconds or the DPS character simply passing away.
But in patch 10.1, Neltharion’s Flames, everyone has at least one self-chosen fiery death “free” – because there is an achievement for that.
What kind of achievement is this? In patch 10.1, there is the achievement “Still Standing in Fire,” which requires players to be killed by Fyrakk. Since Fyrakk is the primal incarnation of fire, it is only a matter of time before you get grilled by him.
You can also see Fyrakk and his siblings in the latest cinematic:
How do you achieve it? Even though the exact method is not yet known, it will probably have to do with the “invasions” of Fyrakk that take place in patch 10.1. These will run similarly to the current elemental storms. However, it is said that it will be possible to “summon Fyrakk” during the new invasions. Even if he will not die during this – as we are not killing an incarnation in patch 10.1 – he will likely intervene in the fight and spit devastating fire.
Why does the achievement exist? The achievement is strictly speaking a reference to another achievement that has existed since “Cataclysm.” When Deathwing appeared in some areas of Cataclysm, he darkened the world and shortly thereafter rained fire from the sky, which leveled an entire area. If you were caught by the flames, you almost instantly died and were rewarded with the achievement – or the disgrace – “Bathed in Fire,” so that the entire guild could see what had happened.
Later, it was also possible to obtain the achievement in the raid “Dragon Soul,” as Deathwing also spewed plenty of fire there and liked to grill entire raids at once.
Will you let Fyrakk grill you? Or do you even see it as an achievement to NOT get this achievement?
