With the next patch for World of Warcraft gear tokens will rain down. Equipping twinks will then be child’s play.
It won’t be long until the next patch for World of Warcraft arrives. With update 7.3, it goes to Argus, the homeworld of the Draenei and the headquarters of the Burning Legion. At Gamescom 2017, the patch is the big topic of WoW, which is why many interviews with the developers revolve around it. Game Director Ion Hazzikostas revealed that there will also be plenty of catch-up mechanics on Argus to gear up newcomers and new characters.
All twinks to 880 in no time – Account-bound tokens
These “catch-up mechanics” include the already known tokens that can be converted into equipment. These have existed since the Timeless Isle of Mists of Pandaria and have appeared in the game ever since.
- The new “Abandoned” tokens create equipment with an item level of at least 910. A random upgrade is possible.
- Additionally, there are “Immaculate” tokens. These are account-bound and can therefore be sent to twinks. They create equipment with an item level of at least 880.
However, the new tokens are not for nether shards, but for a new currency on Argus: Argunite. This is available on almost every corner, for killing rare enemies, world bosses, completing world quests, and so on.
In summary, the system bears a much closer resemblance to the Timeless Isle than to the Broken Shore – even weekly quests that require taking down a certain number of rare mobs tend to point more toward the Pandaria style.
Hazzikostas himself is most excited about the story content from a player’s perspective. Anyone who liked the Suramar campaign will love Argus and the stories surrounding Alleria, Turalyon, and the origins of the Draenei.
What are you looking forward to in Argus? Are the tokens worth it for your twinks at all? Or have you long surpassed item level 880 with all your characters?
Patch 7.3 will probably be the last major patch of Legion – but there will still be more story!
