The War Within is the current expansion of World of Warcraft, and MeinMMO reveals which classes currently leave the best and the worst impression in the new expansion (Patch 11.1.5) – in the context of tier lists for raids and PvP.
What do you find here? With The War Within is the new expansion of World of Warcraft started, many players are wondering which class they should choose to tackle the battle against the Harbinger of the Void and her Neruber forces or to make a quick start in the current PvP season.
Or in other words: Which tanks, healers, and damage dealers have the greatest potential to dominate in the PvE content or in the PvP of The War Within? Which of the classes and specializations can also achieve strong results as an inexperienced hero of Azeroth? Exactly these questions are answered by MeinMMO in this article using tier list rankings.
The insights are based on the statistics from warcraftlogs.com, but also from simulations with SimulationCraft – we compared the numbers with the results from other websites like icy-veins.com and maxroll.gg.
Before we begin, a disclaimer: For almost all WoW content, it doesn’t matter whether your class performs a few percent better or worse than others. If you simply want to experience Blizzard’s MMORPG (outside of the highest difficulty levels), choose the class and specialization that you personally enjoy the most or that appeals to you based on its class fantasy.
Important! WoW regularly receives major balancing patches – especially when a new season is approaching. MeinMMO will therefore regularly update this article for you.

But in my groups, the classes perform differently; what is going on? When numerous simulations are run or the uploaded logs of the entire WoW community are viewed, it quickly becomes apparent: Characters with comparable gear achieve different DPS or healing values.
This is due to numerous factors such as player skill and experience, knowledge of the fight, type of encounter, number of critical hits or procs, and so on. What you can see about the simulations and logs is:
- On the one hand, the current potential of a specialization with equipment X in a specific fight
- On the other hand, the average value that the class can achieve with the respective equipment in a particular situation.
This, in turn, means: A player who almost perfectly masters a class with only average potential can squeeze more DPS out of it than a moderately experienced player currently playing the class with the highest damage potential. This naturally applies equally to tanks and healers.
