With Battle for Azeroth, PvP talents are selected in a new way. Why this means more freedom and yet less power, we reveal here.
One of the major features of World of Warcraft: Legion was the introduction of PvP talents. When characters reached new honor levels, they gained access to PvP talents. There were a total of 18 talents per specialization, arranged in rows of 3 talents each. Since only one talent could be chosen from each row, this resulted in 6 PvP talents to have the crucial advantage in battlegrounds.
With Battle for Azeroth, the PvP talent system is fundamentally being revamped.
- There are no more talent rows. All talents are in a large, shared selection – a talent pool.
- 4 PvP talents can be chosen, one each at levels 20, 40, 70 and 110.
This new system allows players to choose multiple talents that were previously in the same row.
At the same time, this also means that there are fewer PvP talents that can be active at the same time. Instead of 6 active talents, there are now only 4.
However, the system seems to be incomplete, as it has already been announced that “anti-control effects” are in a separate pool that is not yet visible. Each character is supposed to bring only one direct counter against CC effects (“Insignia of the Alliance / Horde”).
Those who wish can also activate their PvP talents in PvE, at least in the open world. To do so, just activate the PvP mode in Stormwind or Orgrimmar.
Please keep in mind that this information is still based on an early alpha of Battle for Azeroth. A lot can change before the release in summer.
