The WoW streamer Asmongold has waited over two years for an item. The joy is correspondingly great when it finally drops…
In World of Warcraft, most things revolve around items in some form. Whether it’s powerful equipment, special mounts, or just cool objects for transmogging. Every player probably longs for that one or another item that just won’t drop. When the big day finally arrives, it’s hard to believe your luck – just like the Twitch streamer Asmongold.
What is it about? Since 2018, the streamer Asmongold has been trying to obtain the weapon “Sickle of the Tormentor”. There are two versions, one in blue and one in red. However, the red sickle can only be dropped by Argus, the Tormentor in the mythic raid Antorus. The raid is “only” for level 110, but still requires multiple players to be completed successfully, even at maximum level. Some mechanics in the fights simply require several players.
The sickle itself has no gameplay use but can be used for transmogging – that is, to enhance other weapons.
For nearly 2 years, Asmongold has been visiting this raid every week, struggling his way through to the last boss again and again, usually accompanied by several friends and/or viewers of his streams.
What happened? A few days ago, it finally happened. Asmongold apparently already had a “feeling” that the sickle would drop – at least he announced it right before the kill. However, he probably didn’t really believe it, as his surprise and joy are clearly visible. After a few seconds of astonished silence, satisfaction bursts out of him, accompanied by the words “It is over” – It is finally over. After all, Argus consumes a whole lot of time each week.
The sickle falls under the category of “Personal Loot” – players receive it directly into their inventory if they are lucky. With a drop chance of just under 1%, this can take a very, very long time…
