The Game Director of WoW revealed how the Legendary Tokens from Patch 7.3.2 work. We will tell you about it in this article.
The data miners had already dissected the latest patch of World of Warcraft a few days ago. Special excitement was caused by the “Legendary Tokens” that will be included in Patch 7.3.2. These create a random legendary item for a specific class at the push of a button. Furthermore, they can also be sent to alternate characters, as the tokens are bound to the account.
Speculations immediately boiled over. How can one obtain the tokens? Can they be bought from a vendor? Can unwanted legendaries be exchanged for them?
In yesterday’s “Developer Q&A” with Ion Hazzikostas, the Game Director of World of Warcraft, the purpose of these tokens was revealed.
You will receive them if you already have all legendary items for a class – for all available specializations. If a legendary item for your class would normally drop afterwards, you instead receive one of the tokens.
In the chat, many players complained that there are hardly any players who own all legendary items.
Hazzikostas is aware of this, but he expects the number of such players to grow significantly in the coming months. Because there are no more plans to implement additional legendaries during Legion. And the next expansion hasn’t even been announced yet – so a lot of time will pass.
For the future, they are keeping a small loophole open: The Legendary Tokens could serve “another purpose” in the future, potentially coming from other sources. This would probably be implemented via a hotfix if the necessity arises.
Are you excited about the Legendary Tokens? Or do you not expect to ever own all legendary items on a single character?
