Sylvanas Windrunner from World of Warcraft is still at war. In Patch 8.1, she acts again and has some terrible deeds planned.
With Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, the war in World of Warcraft truly escalates. While the battles mainly take place in Kul Tiras and Zandalar, such as in the new raid Siege of Zuldazar, there are also some conflicts in the “old world.” The Alliance is trying to conquer Darkshore. During this (and in other locations), some of Sylvanas’ schemes are revealed.
Spoiler warning: Anyone who doesn’t want to know what Sylvanas and the Horde are up to should not continue reading.
Revenge on the Proudmoores
During the war campaign, the Horde discovered the corpse of Derek Proudmoore. He is the brother of Jaina and Tandred. He was used to lure Katherine away from Boralus. However, in Patch 8.1, Sylvanas has other plans for the corpse and raises Derek as a Forsaken.
The other leaders of the Horde condemn Sylvanas’ actions and are skeptical. Even if they do not take any active steps, Baine says:
“This is wrong. There is no honor in her actions. She dishonors us all. We must right these wrongs… before the Horde loses everything that makes us strong.”
Undead Night Elves – A former Warden
But it doesn’t end with the resurrection of humans. Sylvanas has also begun to resurrect some Night Elves.
The most prominent victim is likely Sira Moonwarden. She is a leader of the Wardens and accuses Maiev of “abandoning her because Maiev wanted to chase a single prisoner.”
Whether Sira is truly “undead” is still not fully clear from the current game information. Her new clothing and the title “Dark Warden” suggest that. After all, the “Dark Rangers” are also dead elves. Also, her absolute obedience to Sylvanas strongly indicates that she has been turned into a Forsaken.
Sira also seems to have turned away from Elune, as she says among other things: “Elune’s promises were just empty words.”
Currently, there is still some speculation about why Sylvanas is suddenly able to resurrect Night Elves. She hasn’t had this ability before – or at least it was never used.
Whether Sylvanas has already used Sira to possibly recruit more Wardens to her side remains to be seen.
