Some items in World of Warcraft get better day by day. We will introduce you to two of them – because you might easily miss them.
Zereth Mortis is the current endgame zone of World of Warcraft. The system around the ciphers, numerous rare spawns, and a lot of cool unlocks for the Pocopoc unit is well-received by many players. However, some aspects can be quite annoying – especially the jumping puzzles and grinding for more ciphers.
However, WoW helps you with that – but this help is often overlooked. We show you two items that are likely gathering dust in your bags but are really useful.
We are talking about effects that can be on your cipher gear. You can get this gear pretty much anywhere in Zereth Mortis. It drops from certain rare enemies, can be found in treasures, or is offered to you as a quest reward.
Two of these effects are particularly interesting:
- Equipping: Activates the dimensional translators to overcome great distances in the outskirts of the Shadowlands.
- Equipping: Enhances Pocopoc’s perception abilities to find additional hidden chests.
Depending on your armor class, these effects can be found on different items. For cloth, they are found on bracers and shoulders, while for leather, mail, and plate, they are on different slots.
Dimensional Translators
What do dimensional translators do? Items with this effect can be used every 90 seconds to jump to a target. The pure distance gain is not very interesting – much more exciting is that you can also move upwards and downwards with it, allowing you to climb pillars you otherwise couldn’t reach. The ability resembles a warrior’s heroic leap.
What do upgrades do? The upgrades to the cipher console ensure that the distance you can cover with the item gradually increases. At the start, it’s just a few meters, but with each upgrade, it gets more, allowing you to climb seemingly insurmountable cliffs.
Surely, the item will lose significance once flying is possible in Zereth Mortis – but until then, you should always have an armor piece with this bonus on you.
Unless, of course, you are Venthyr. The signature ability of the Venthyr serves the same purpose, but it is tied to the covenant.
Pocopoc’s Perception Abilities
What do Pocopoc’s perception abilities do? As long as you have items with this bonus equipped, you can find additional treasures. They often have the term “Forgotten” in their designation, such as “Forgotten Treasure Chest”. These chests contain the usual loot from Zereth Mortis, including some ciphers, cosmic flux, anima, and more.
But remember to instruct your Pocopoc to look out for special items so he can alert you to these treasures more often.
What do upgrades do? Upgrades ensure that significantly more chest spawns can be seen. At level 1, you might find 2-3 more chests per day. However, by level 3, this number increases significantly, and during our 2-hour stay in Zereth Mortis, we could find a whopping 10 additional chests, which means more ciphers.
By the way: The chests are not subject to a “daily lockout” – so you can find and collect the same chest spawn multiple times a day.
Items get better day by day
How does the upgrade work? The upgrade happens more or less incidentally while you invest your ciphers into upgrades for Pocopoc. Once you have spent a certain amount of ciphers, the strength of your cipher gear increases.
You can check the upgrade level of your items at the cipher console. The display is located at the top left of the selection screen for your research. When you hover your mouse over the text “cipher equipment level”, you can see how many ciphers you still need to invest in research to unlock the next level and further increase the effectiveness of the items.
In plain terms: The more ciphers you invest in your research, the more chests you find and the further you can jump. It may be worth equipping items with these bonuses, even if your item level is lower than what you usually wear.
Have you also equipped these items? Or do you have no desire to deal with Zereth Mortis when you can soon fly?
