The race to see who has the best guild in World of Warcraft starts again. We will show you how to watch live.
Although World of Warcraft Midnight has been live for a few weeks now, the “real” endgame starts only now – with the release of the mythic difficulty level for raids and the “Mythic+” category for dungeons. This moment is today – at least in the USA. For us, the unlock will come tomorrow (March 25, 2026), but reporting about the World First Race begins today – and the US guilds can take advantage of their lead.
Why is this race special? The first World First Race of WoW: Midnight brings a few unique features that set it apart from previous races. These are mainly:
- Many addons are no longer allowed. Strong addons like “WeakAuras” are a thing of the past and can no longer be used.
- There are 3 raids with different numbers of bosses (1, 6, and 2), allowing progress to be made on several fronts.
How is the winner determined? This will likely be a matter of interpretation. Since there are three different raids, theoretically, there could be a separate winner for each raid instance. Generally, however, the final fight in the march to the Sunwell, namely “Midnight Falls,” is considered the last boss that will decide the race.

What is the issue with the World First Race? For many years, there has been a complaint that the “World First Race” does not proceed entirely fairly. This is because this race is not officially supported by Blizzard. Due to differing maintenance schedules, players in Europe and the USA start at different times. Typically, American players have a time advantage of about half a day.
However, there is no easy solution to the dilemma, because if one simply took the “time until the kill” – that is, subtracting 12 hours for Europeans – it wouldn’t be fair either. In many cases, Americans are still dealing with bugs that have already been fixed in the EU. Moreover, the second place generally benefits from being able to mimic the winner’s strategies.
Yet despite this small inconsistency, the “Race to World First” remains highly popular and is followed by fans around the globe. Let’s see how long it takes this time until all 9 bosses of the first raid tier are down.
