Cortyn has also taken a look at the last area of World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth. Here are the impressions from Nazmir.
After the absolute disillusionment in Vol’dun, which unfortunately represents the low point of the leveling experience of WoW: Battle for Azeroth due to its story, I traveled further to Nazmir. The last zone is located in the north of Zandalar and is the central focal point for the threat of the strange blood trolls, which have become an increasingly greater danger over the past few months.
Nazmir is the third zone in Zandalar and story-wise the “last” area, as it brings resolution to the storyline from the previous areas. The focus is on the story surrounding the increased emergence of blood trolls, but the divine Loa also resurface.
The Loa of Death mocks the players
Especially Bwonsamdi, the Loa of Death, is quite a cool character. He feels superior and keeps giving us rather silly or cruel tasks. For example, we have to guide the soul of a child to its mother, only to find out that the mother sacrificed the child in a blood ritual.
If we happen to pass away, there is no healer at the cemetery, but Bwonsamdi, who throws out a nasty saying.
In general, however, Nazmir is also macabre – especially the blood trolls in their camps are quite cruel. Everywhere, prisoners hang from poles, writhing or being used by the trolls for cruel rituals. You feel like you’re in a slaughterhouse, as indeed prisoners hang there to bleed out and thus appease the trolls’ blood god.
Visually, Nazmir is dark, and that shows at every corner. There are hardly any “bright” moments. Whether at the various temples of the Loa or in the villages of the blood trolls, everything has a dark and threatening atmosphere that reminds one of Icecrown or even the positive aspects of Argus (without being so monotonous).
In summary, Nazmir is a worthy conclusion to the leveling experience in Zandalar. The story is exciting, the area oppressive and dark, without becoming monotonous quickly. Nazmir is definitely an area that all WoW fans can look forward to!
