World of Warcraft will soon test a new feature that is set to come with Dragonflight: the Trading Post. It provides you with monthly tasks and a new currency which you can exchange for pets, mounts, and cosmetic gear.
What is this feature? The Trading Post will be a new building in the capitals of the Horde and the Alliance, Orgrimmar and Stormwind. The merchants will set up their stalls quite centrally: outside the Mage Quarter or directly next to Grommash Hold.
You will find new merchants at the Trading Post where you can shop and look at their displays on mannequins, in the stable, or directly in the store.
What rewards are there? At the Trading Post, you can buy purely cosmetic rewards. These include:
- cosmetic gear (“Transmog”)
- pets
- mounts (“Mounts”)
The offers are only available for a month. However, Blizzard explains that everything can return at a later date. So there is no real “FOMO” and only limited exclusivity.

A monthly “Battle Pass” for mounts, pets, and transmog
How do I get the rewards? For the Trading Post, you need a new currency: Trader’s currency. You can obtain this in two ways:
- you collect 500 currency monthly from the chest at the Trading Post, without effort
- you complete tasks in the new “Travel Journal” and receive up to 500 additional currency
- the costs for the items range according to an initial image from 100 currency for cheaper transmogs to up to 900 for a mount
The currency will be credited to you on the 1st of each month – or on the first day that you have game time again, if it expired at the beginning of the month. Everyone receives the same amount of currency.
The tasks work similarly to the Battle Pass from Hearthstone. You have different challenges such as reviving players, showing affection, or drinking Zanzil’s slow-acting poison. Earned currency also ends up in the chest at the Trading Post.
When will the feature go live? The new feature is still being tested on the PTR and may receive changes there, such as to the Battle Pass. The Trading Post is supposed to be available there “soon” but we do not yet know when it will come to the live servers.
