The most famous pandaren from World of Warcraft is leveling up again. He is now at level 52 – and still in the starting area.
This is one of those news items that always appear shortly after the release of a new expansion, and WoW: Shadowlands is no exception. The now legendary pandaren Doubleagent is on the move again and on his way to level 60. He seems to have chosen the most challenging path to reach the new maximum level.
Who is Doubleagent? Doubleagent is a pandaren shaman from the US server Mannoroth, who has built quite a reputation over the years. Although he regularly reaches the maximum level in World of Warcraft, he belongs to neither the Horde nor the Alliance. He has simply never left the starting area of the Pandaren and thus has not needed to join any faction. Even today, he is still on the island, making his way to the maximum level without committing to the Horde or the Alliance.
How does he collect XP? Doubleagent collects XP through the few opportunities available to him on the Pandaren island. This is limited to picking flowers, mining ores, and occasionally some pet battles that he completes on other characters to redeem them on Doubleagent.
How far is Doubleagent? Already now, two days after the release of Shadowlands, Doubleagent has reached level 52 with this method, meaning he is still 8 level-ups away from the new maximum. As the early levels required relatively few XP, this went quite quickly. How long it will take him for the upcoming levels is still hard to estimate.
Doubleagent has an NPC in the game: The whole action is so famous that Blizzard even dedicated a NPC to Doubleagent. In the monks’ class hall in Legion, you can see a NPC wandering in the background, collecting ores and picking herbs. The NPC is dedicated to Doubleagent, who has been doing exactly that for weeks and months to level up.
It is nice to see that some legends in World of Warcraft will probably never disappear. Doubleagent is definitely one of the more entertaining ones.
