Night Elf players want to use the new glaives in Patch 8.1 of World of Warcraft. However, they would have to play Demon Hunters – and who really wants that?
With Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, there are many new armors and weapons in World of Warcraft. Some of these weapon models are particularly appealing or evoke great interest among Night Elf players – the glaives with three blades. However, they probably won’t be available for the regular night elf.

War glaives only for Demon Hunters: Glaives in World of Warcraft are only available to Demon Hunters. They are the only class that can use glaives and were only introduced with the last expansion “Legion”. While there are a few weapons that look like glaives but are actually swords (such as Illidan’s glaives) or fist weapons – this is, however, the minority.
By the way, Night Elves will soon be able to choose black eyes!
Why do Night Elves want glaives? Since the early artworks of World of Warcraft and even in Warcraft 3, glaives with 3 blades have been an integral part of Night Elf culture. Most Night Elf sentinels, such as the shield watchers, use these glaives.
Fans demand more weapon types: Especially roleplayers who have been trying to represent an authentic shield watcher for years are yearning for these glaives. They are simply the epitome of a weapon of the Night Elves. Their demand is clear: There should be more weapon types with the model of the new glaive. A fist weapon would be the most fitting here, as in the past, some fist weapons had a similar design.
Whether Blizzard will relent in the coming weeks and months remains to be seen. Given how the developers are currently responding to (sometimes justified) criticism, the chances look good.
What is your opinion on the topic? Should such a special Night Elf weapon be reserved only for Demon Hunters? Or should warriors and other Night Elves also be able to use this traditional weapon of their people?
At least there are new saber models for Night Elves – and all others.
