All the important details about the allied race of the Mag’har Orcs from WoW are known. But not all players are happy about it. Cortyn, from our team, is one of the WoW players who sees this skeptically.
With the upcoming expansion Battle for Azeroth, numerous new races will be introduced in World of Warcraft. One of them will be the Mag’har Orcs, the so-called “Uncorrupted”, who have not succumbed to a demonic pact with Gul’dan and the Legion.
A few days ago, Blizzard released a small preview of the Mag’har Orcs and revealed various details about the allied race.
When will the Mag’har Orcs be playable: To create a Mag’har Orc, one must complete the “Warchief’s Campaign” of the Horde after the release of Patch 8.0. Essentially, this is an overarching questline that runs from level 110 to the maximum level of 120 and continues thereafter. It can be understood as a counterpart to the missions of the Class Orders, but the questline is identical for all players of a faction.
What makes Mag’har Orcs special: The Mag’har have unique decorations, skin colors, and war paints corresponding to their respective clans. They possess their own mount and a legacy armor set. New characters will (likely) enter the game as an allied race at level 20.

What racial bonuses do the Mag’har Orcs have? Like all allied races, the Mag’har have unique racial abilities that differentiate them from other species.
- Call of the Ancestors: The Mag’har Orcs can call upon their ancestors, who grant them power in battle.
- Free Spirit: When the Mag’har Orcs are outdoors, their flying speed is increased.
- Compassionate Vitality: The health of companions of the Mag’har Orcs is increased.
- Wild Blood: Poisons, diseases, and curses afflict the Mag’har Orcs for a shorter duration.
Mag’har Orcs do not only bring joy
Many are looking forward to the new Orcs, but not everyone: A large number of players are excited about the Mag’har, who bring a bit more variety to the coloring and appearance of Orcs. But not all WoW players are fans of the idea.
Many players view the Mag’har Orcs, the “uncorrupted” Orcs from Draenor of the alternative timeline, critically.
Why I am against the Mag’har Orcs: Especially from a role-playing perspective, the Mag’har are an abomination to me. I had fervently hoped that the entire “Warlords of Draenor” issue would be a thing of the past and that we would never have to deal with that alternative timeline again. The fact that there is still an obvious connection – something through portals – in the story to recruit the Mag’har is frustrating.
This means, in plain terms, that this “second Draenor”, with all its attached universe (like a second Azeroth), still has an influence on the “main universe”. Just the thought that we might still have a Varian, an Illidan, or a Vol’jin on reserve for emergencies in that second universe turns my stomach.
I would have preferred a clean conclusion. Did it really need a sequel “Space Orcs from another world and from another timeline” after “Space Orcs from another world”? Some things just don’t need a sequel.
In my opinion, it was wise to hastily conclude the rather mediocre “Draenor story” in Warlords of Draenor in order to start something new with Legion. Now to be rummaging through the old remains is a step in the wrong direction.
