One of the most famous swords from World of Warcraft is getting a redesign. Soon you’ll be able to get the “South Park” blade.
In the long lifespan of World of Warcraft, many myths and stories have developed. For many, the “South Park” episode “Make Love, not Warcraft” will still be well remembered. Especially one sword from this episode stayed in the minds of many players. It will now get a “remake” and can be obtained again in the next patch.
What kind of sword is it? The Killer of the Undead is a rune blade from the Naxxramas raid, which served as transmog for many players and thus is a quite coveted weapon. However, the sword has aged noticeably, so it simply can no longer compete graphically with modern weapons.
The developers of WoW seem to have taken this as an opportunity to revise the weapon model. In Patch 9.1 Chains of Domination, the “Devouring Cold” is likely to appear – the old sword with a new, high-resolution model.
What does this have to do with South Park? The sword gained fame when it appeared in the series South Park. There, it was the “Sword of a Thousand Truths” and could be used by the kids to drain all mana from the meanest ganker, leaving him defenseless.
Later, the sword also appeared again in Naxxramas during the expansion “Wrath of the Lich King” and bore the name “Killer of the Undead” with the small addition “Prophesied by Salzman.” Salzman was an accounting employee at Blizzard in the “South Park” episode.
How do you get the sword? Currently, the sword has only been found in the game data from the PTR and is not associated with any stats there. It is quite possible that it is merely a cosmetic reward that serves the transmogification.
A source for the sword is not yet known. Since the sword originally comes from Naxxramas, it is quite conceivable that it will be left by the lich Kel’Thuzad in the upcoming patch – as he will reappear in the raid “Sanctum of Domination” in Patch 9.1.
