We now know when the last season of WoW: Shadowlands begins. This also marks the end of the current expansion.
World of Warcraft Shadowlands is nearing its end rapidly. But before we leave the Shadowlands behind and move on to the next expansion Dragonflight, there will be a small Season 4. In this, Blizzard wants to try out new things – and now we finally know that it will start in August.
When does Season 4 start? Blizzard has officially announced the start date for Season 4 of Shadowlands. It will start on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, thus replacing the current Season 3.
What needs to be done now? The end of Season 3 also means that some titles and achievements will no longer be obtainable. Those who have not yet earned the mount from Season 3 in “Mythic+” should use the last weeks to push their rating above 2,500 quickly.
Even for raiders, it’s worth putting in a real effort. After all, you will no longer be able to get the achievements for an early kill of the Jailor once the season has come to an end.
The PvP achievements from Season 3 will also disappear and, just like the corresponding rewards, will no longer be available.
So if you need something from any of these categories, you should use July to earn the corresponding content. The exact timing for the end of Season 3 is August 2 at 10:00 PM.
What is different about Season 4? With the final season of Shadowlands, Blizzard wants to try out a number of innovations, particularly affecting fans of Mythic+ and raids.
In the “Mythic+” area, you can look forward to the biggest changes. Almost all Shadowlands dungeons will be removed from the rotation. In Season 4, only the two Tazavesh sections will remain among the season’s dungeons. All other dungeons will come from earlier expansions. You will regularly visit:
- Tazavesh: The Wonderous Streets (Shadowlands)
- Tazavesh: Soleah’s Gambit (Shadowlands)
- Mechagon: Junkyard (Battle for Azeroth)
- Mechagon: Workshop (Battle for Azeroth)
- Upper Karazhan (Legion)
- Lower Karazhan (Legion)
- Grimrail Depot (Warlords of Draenor)
- Iron Docks (Warlords of Draenor)
It should be even more interesting for those daring to raid. In Season 4, all Shadowlands raids will become relevant again! You can thus challenge both Castle Nathria and Sanctum of Domination or the Necrotic Wake. Each week, one of these three raids will be highlighted and enhanced with a new raid affix. This also means that you will receive interesting loot from all 3 raids.
Blizzard sees this season as experimental and wants to see how this is received by the players.
How long does Season 4 last? The final season of Shadowlands will likely last until the end of the expansion, which is the Pre-Patch 10.0. While there is no fixed date yet, Dragonflight is expected to be released by December 31, 2022. If the pre-patch lasts 2-4 weeks, as in previous expansions, the season will therefore end at the latest in early or mid-December.
Are you looking forward to Season 4? Or do you think such “reheated” content is not good?
