Many players thought that Dragonflight would end with the current update 10.2. However, Blizzard has now announced another patch for World of Warcraft: Seeds of Renewal, which continues Dragonflight.
What’s next for Dragonflight?
- After the current patch Watcher of Dreams, there will be another patch: Seeds of Renewal.
- The update seems to be somewhat smaller than Watcher of Dreams. For example, it does not include a raid, but existing features will be expanded and new story plots will be introduced.
- A release date for the patch is still pending.
What to expect: In a new blog post, Blizzard has already revealed the content for the upcoming update. This includes:
- Dragon riding will work throughout Azeroth, similar to the upcoming “Dynamic Flying” feature of The War Within.
- Worgen will be allowed to reclaim Gilneas.
- The Dragon Isles will receive an epilogue after the last conclusion cinematic.
- Trolls, Draenei, and the demons of warlocks will receive additional customization options.
- The “Love is in the Air” event will receive an update.
Additionally, entirely new features will come with the Archives of Azeroth and the companion dungeons. The Archives tell the story of the Dragon Isles and you can complete weekly events to earn pets, mounts, and transmog items.
With the companion dungeons, you can complete eight normal dungeons solo or in groups of up to 4 players with NPCs. This is designed so you can explore the game without pressure.
New content for Dragonflight until The War Within starts
Seeds of Renewal will likely indeed be the last update for Dragonflight, aside from smaller patches. However, we do not expect any larger, new features to come before The War Within starts.
Blizzard is already working on the next 3 expansions, of which The War Within is the first, set to release in Fall 2024. The alpha is expected to start in Spring 2024.
Since Patch 10.2 has just been released, a possible release for Seeds of Renewal is around February or March 2024. However, MeinMMO reader Duyan pointed out that the revision of the Valentine’s event suggests that the patch must actually be released by the end of January at the latest.
In any case, the release would roughly coincide with a Season 4 for Dragonflight and bridge the time until the tests for The War Within.
