World of Warcraft has accidentally leaked where the journey with The War Within leads. The contents of Patch 11.1 and 11.2 are well known.
The next expansion of World of Warcraft, The War Within, is currently still in beta, as the release is not due for about 2 months. But already, it has been leaked how WoW will proceed afterwards. Initial clues about what will happen in Patch 11.1 and 11.2 have been found in the game files. We have all the information for you.

What was discovered? As YouTuber Bellular explains in one of his latest videos, some objects found in the game files clearly suggest what areas we will be visiting in the future.
Some icons have the following names:
- Goblin Raid
- Ethereal Raid
Since the first raid in The War Within is already known and items in this regard are called “Nerubian Raid”, it’s clear that Blizzard names items from the various raids this way – thereby indirectly revealing what raids are still on the horizon.
What does this mean? Even though we are entering the realm of speculation here, the names give clear hints as to where the journey is likely to lead.
“Goblin Raid” is likely to point to the area “Undermine”. This is the place where the Goblins originally come from and where Azerite was found for the first time. That the Goblins play a special role in The War Within has already been indirectly hinted at by Blizzard – as one of the new short stories revolves around Gazlowe, the current leader of the Horde Goblins.
But the second raid, the “Ethereal Raid,” is likely to be even more exciting. The Ethereals are a race that has already experienced the effects of the Void. Their home world K’aresh contained – just like Azeroth – a World Soul. K’aresh was destroyed by the Void Lord Dimensius. Dimensius, in turn, is the Void Lord who appointed Xal’atath as his “Herald.” The puzzle is coming together.
Thus, it is very likely that we will travel to the destroyed K’aresh with Patch 11.2 (similar to how we went to Argus back then) and experience firsthand what happens to a world consumed by the Void. We will probably encounter the “Shadowguard” there – these are Ethereals who have been completely consumed by the Void and therefore stand on Xal’atath’s side. How likely is the leak? For Blizzard, this whole incident may be a bit embarrassing, as exactly the same thing happened during the beta of Dragonflight. Back then, the names of icons revealed that a coming patch would take us to the Emerald Dream – and that is exactly what happened.
At that time, icons had names like “Blackdragon Outdoor” and “Emerald Dream Outdoor” – which referred to the Zaralek Cave and the Emerald Dream.
Whether these names will hold true this time as well, we will likely only find out in a few months as Patch 11.1 and Patch 11.2 approach. But for starters, we already have good hints about where the journey with The War Within is headed – before the second chapter of the World Soul saga begins with Midnight.
