The abolishment of the loot master in World of Warcraft is hotly debated. We present the arguments on both sides.
With Battle for Azeroth, World of Warcraft is implementing some changes to the game again. The loot distribution also changes significantly for some players. Just yesterday we reported that the loot master will be abolished as a loot option with Battle for Azeroth. “Personal loot” takes its place. We take a look at the various arguments on both sides.
Pro – What speaks for the loot master?
The loot master has always been part of World of Warcraft. The loot option has several points on the pro side.
Control. A raid, and especially the leadership, has more control over which players are geared first. Dedicated and regularly appearing players can be specifically rewarded this way.
The feeling of nostalgia. Many players grew up with the loot master in World of Warcraft. Back in the Molten Core, it was simply part of it that the raid leader posted the items one by one and then people rolled for them. Another piece of “tradition” from WoW will disappear with the abolishment.
Trust. The loot master requires a certain level of trust among players, which can foster social bonds between players. Personal loot is – as the name suggests – personal and therefore not influenced by other players.
Free trade. The loot master can give players items that are far beyond their own item level. With personal loot, trading is only possible to a limited extent, as anyone wishing to give up an item must already possess something of equivalent value.
Contra – What speaks against the loot master?
There are also several arguments on the opposing side that can be presented.
Time. Distributing the loot with a loot master takes additional time. Depending on the number of bosses, it can easily take half an hour one evening to assign the desired loot to the players.
