The beta of World of Warcraft: The War Within has finally started. We are showing the new trailer and how you can join immediately.
The long wait has finally come to an end. The alpha of The War Within is over, and the beta has finally begun. From now on, you can dive into the latest chapter of World of Warcraft and check out the new content – at least if you have a beta access. We will explain how you can obtain it and how to download the client here.

How can you join the beta? There are two ways to participate in the beta. First, you can classicly apply for beta access. To do this, go to the official Blizzard website, log in with your Battle.net account, and indicate that you are interested in the beta. With a bit of luck, you will be invited to the beta in the coming weeks.
You will have guaranteed access if you pre-order the more expensive “Epic Edition” of The War Within. In that case, you will get direct access to the beta and can start playing immediately.
How do you download the beta client of The War Within? It’s simple and works the same as with other WoW versions.
- Simply open your Battle.net client and select the entry for World of Warcraft.
- On the bottom left, you can expand a tab with various WoW versions under “Game Version & Account”.
- Under “In Development,” multiple entries will appear. If you are in the beta, you will see “The War Within Beta” listed there. Select this entry.
- You will then need to click on “Install” or “Update” to start the installation.
- After that, you can participate in the beta via the “Play” menu item.
If you want to switch back to the retail version, you need to close the WoW client and switch the version back to the current WoW version in Battle.net.
How do I know if I am in the beta? If you receive an invitation to the beta, you will generally be informed via email. However, you don’t need to click on any links. A look into the Battle.net launcher always provides certainty. If you find the entry for the beta of The War Within there, you can participate.
