The affixes in “Mythic+” dungeons of World of Warcraft often cause chaos. We explain all the mechanics – including the affixes in patch 7.2!
Update: This list has been updated with the affixes from patch 7.2.
Those who tackle more than just regular dungeons in World of Warcraft: Legion will encounter unique challenges in the higher “Mythic+” instances that complicate their dungeon visits. These special conditions, referred to as “affixes”, occur at a difficulty level of “Mythic+4”.
From level 7, a second affix becomes active and from level 10, even a third. All 3 affixes at the same time often cause significantly more chaos than what is already present in a challenging instance.
WoW: All Affixes of the Mythic+ Dungeons
We have a small list of all affixes for you, explaining each condition and indicating when they can occur:
- Challenging (from level 4): When trash mobs are defeated, their death cries empower other nearby enemies, increasing their maximum health and damage dealt by 20%. This only affects enemies already in combat with you and cannot affect bosses.
- Quaking: Player characters periodically emit a shockwave that deals damage to other players and interrupts their spells.
- Bleeding (from level 4): Upon death, trash mobs leave behind a pool of blood. Enemies in the pool are healed every second, while players take significant damage. The pools remain for a long time.
- Explosive: Enemies in combat periodically summon explosive orbs. The orbs explode for heavy damage if not quickly destroyed.
- Quirky (from level 7): Tanks generate significantly less threat, causing enemies to sometimes switch targets and attack the group’s softer targets.
- Nekrotic (from level 7): Melee attacks from trash mobs generate a stackable debuff that reduces healing received and causes periodic damage.
- Bursting: When normal enemies die, they explode, dealing damage equal to 10% of the player’s maximum health over 4 seconds. This effect is stackable.
- Terrifying: If players fall below 90% health, they take damage every second until they are healed above 90%.
- Tyrannical (from level 10): Bosses have 40% more health and deal 20% more damage.
- Excessive (from level 7): Overhealing is converted into a debuff that absorbs healing received.
- Unyielding: Normal enemies temporarily become immune to control effects.
- Augmented (from level 10): Trash mobs have 20% more health and deal 40% more damage.
- Volcanic (from level 7): As long as players are in combat, small volcanoes appear under ranged attackers every few seconds, exploding after a short period and dealing heavy damage.
- Swarming (from level 4): There are significantly more trash mobs in the dungeon. The required number of trash mobs for successfully completing the instance is correspondingly increased.
- Enraged (from level 4): Trash mobs go into a frenzy at 30% health, increasing their damage dealt by 100% until they die.

The affixes are cumulative to the additional strength that enemies already have in the “Mythic+” dungeons.
In the future, developers are considering further affixes to bring even more variety and fear into the hearts of players. Which affixes do you find particularly easy and which do you find extremely annoying?
