In World of Warcraft, there are many funny titles. We present some of the coolest ones and how to get them here.
In World of Warcraft, there are many ways to customize your character to your liking. Most of this happens through the talent selection, the chosen transmog set, or your mount. However, you can also further individualize your character through titles. However, all titles in WoW must be earned, and some of them are no longer obtainable.
We show you five interesting titles that you might not have considered – and explain how you can obtain them.
1. The Insane
(The Insane)
Not all titles in World of Warcraft need to sound glamorous and glorious; they can also simply show your passion for the game. And passion (and a lot of endurance) is also the most important thing if you want to call yourself “Melinda the Insane”.
For this title, you need to grind reputation with several factions that otherwise have very little gameplay utility and earn the achievement “On the Edge of Insanity”. These include:
- Booty Bay (Exalted)
- Everlook (Exalted)
- Gadgetzan (Exalted)
- Ratchet (Exalted)
- Darkmoon Faire (Exalted)
- Ravenholdt (Exalted)
- Bloodsail Buccaneers (Friendly)
The first four listed factions are neutral Goblin cities scattered throughout Azeroth. You can gain reputation with them by completing quests for them. For the last reputation points – and that can be quite a lot – you must travel to Tanaris and kill the pirates east of the Caverns of Time. This can take a few days, but you can drastically shorten the time if you look for a group for this task. This way, you can cover a larger area and force a steady respawn of enemies.
For the Bloodsail Buccaneers, there is only one way. You must travel to Stranglethorn Vale and set the faction “Booty Bay” to “Hostile” in the reputation window. Then, you slaughter your way through all of Booty Bay. Over and over again. But be careful! You will lose reputation with the Goblins. So, you should either get all Goblin factions to Exalted first or get the Bloodsail Buccaneers to Friendly first.
The Darkmoon Faire is currently the easiest reputation faction. Just visit it when it is active again – always from the 1st Sunday of the month until the next Saturday and complete the daily quests with the mini-games. Then you should be exalted fairly quickly.
For Ravenholdt, you absolutely need a rogue. Because with this faction, you can only become Exalted if you turn in a “Heavy Loot Hoard” in Ravenholdt Keep in Hillsbrad Foothills to the NPC Winstone Wolfe. This loot hoard can be stolen from various enemies via Pickpocketing. This works particularly well on the island of Quel’danas, to the east by the Murlocs. Loot the Murlocs, then kill them, and wait for their respawn.
All of this is quite time-consuming, but it is rewarded with a nice title.
2. Minion of Mayhem
(Minion of Mayhem)
The English version of the title sounds rather cute, whereas the German one has quite a punch. Because who wouldn’t want to be “Velandariel, Minion of Mayhem”? Especially for Warlocks, this is quite a cool title, but anyone else should be able to get on board with it.
The catch is this: you need to play a lot of pet battles. You must successfully complete all pet battle dungeons so that you receive the invitation to the final pet battle dungeon in Blackrock Depths. The fights here are extremely challenging and require a lot of planning and a large collection of pets.
However, if you successfully complete the dungeon, you can speak to the NPC “Tasha Riley” after the last fight and state that you want to join the “Council of Chaos”. You will then immediately receive the title “Minion of Mayhem”!
Since Shadowlands, there is also a second way to get this title – although it is not entirely clear if this is intentional. In Maldraxxus, you can earn the pet “Karpal”. You need to assemble it from three individual components:
- “Enchanted Spine” can sometimes be earned from pet world quests in Maldraxxus.
- “Enchanted Claw” is available from the Quartermaster of the Eternal Army.
- “Bending Fingerbones” can be looted at coordinates 47 / 62 in Maldraxxus.
Once you have assembled Karpal and added it to your collection, you should receive the title simply credited to you within the next hour.
As mentioned before, it is unknown if the second option with Karpal is intended or a bug. Therefore, the safe way is through pet battles.
3. Esteemed
(Esteemed)
There are some titles that can be earned very quickly. And then there are titles that require months of work. One of these titles is “Esteemed”. To be able to call yourself “Esteemed Serathion” in the future, you must bring a total of 100 reputation factions to Exalted.
Which reputation factions you choose for this is completely irrelevant – they can be PvP factions from vanilla times, side factions from The Burning Crusade, or even the latest factions from Shadowlands. All reputation factions that you bring to Exalted count towards this achievement.
At least: the task gradually becomes easier. Because the older World of Warcraft gets, the more factions are added to the game. So if you are currently not reaching the 100 factions, just wait – because the next expansion will surely bring even more reputation factions. And as long as they are “current content”, you farm them anyway on the side to Exalted.
4. The Crazy Cat Lady / The Crazy Cat Guy
(The Crazy Cat Lady / The Crazy Cat Guy)
Because we all know that cats are much better than dogs (no discussion allowed), you can also express this in World of Warcraft. If you want to be known as “Anastasia, the Crazy Cat Lady” or “Dwarusch, the Crazy Cat Guy”, you have to show your love for the furry quadrupeds.
In other words: You must own at least 20 of the 26 different cat pets that are part of the achievement “Crazy for Cats”.
Most of them can simply be obtained from various vendors around the world, while others are rare drops from specific bosses or can be tamed in pet battles.
However, you will likely have the most success by checking the auction house. A large portion of the cats can also be sold to other players, allowing you to complete a significant part of the achievement for a few gold coins.
5. Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions
(Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions)
There are many titles that are glorious. And then there are titles where you are not quite sure if they are a true accolade – but they are just so funny that you have to have them.
Because you are not just any Paladin, you are “Tellos, Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions”.
To obtain the title, you need to visit the raid “Blackwing Descent” and make your way to the boss Maloriak. You can find the raid at the top of Blackrock Mountain – that’s the big volcanic mountain between the Blasted Lands and the Searing Gorge in the Eastern Kingdoms.
The boss Maloriak himself should not pose a problem for any champion at level 50 or above – he will likely fall after using a single ability.
Maloriak was a scientist who conducted experiments on behalf of Nefarian – but these never led to a satisfactory result.
When you kill Maloriak, Nefarian sarcastically thanks you and grants you a negative effect called “Master Adventurer’s Distinction” for 30 minutes.
As long as you have this negative effect, you will soon carry the title “[Character], Slayer of Stupid, Incompetent and Disappointing Minions”.
Unfortunately, there is no way to permanently wear this title – but it’s worth a regular visit to Blackwing Descent just for this absurdly long title.
What title do you fight through World of Warcraft with? Is your favorite title included, or what do you boast about?
