The support in the Horde for Sylvanas is dwindling. Her latest actions in Patch 8.1 of World of Warcraft are causing the first protests from other characters.
In the upcoming update for World of Warcraft, Patch 8.1 Tides of Vengeance, Sylvanas’ methods become increasingly drastic. Gradually, her support in the Horde dwindles. We reveal what she is up to and how the Horde reacts.
Spoiler Warning: This discusses content from the ongoing War Campaign in Patch 8.1. You have been warned.
Even though not all quests are playable on the PTR yet, dataminers have already extracted a lot of data and could clearly assign some statements to different characters. From this, it can also be inferred what Sylvanas is doing in Patch 8.1 – and how her allies react.
Derek Proudmoore is revived: As hinted in the original War Campaign, Sylvanas is now conducting the resurrection of Derek Proudmoore – the long-lost brother of Jaina. Baine Bloodhoof is furious about this, leading to the following dialogue:
Baine: “Sylvanas! What reasons could you possibly have for this madness?”
Sylvanas: “Derek Proudmoore was a hero of Kul Tiras. And as soon as his mind is properly conditioned, we will allow the Proudmoores to retrieve their long-lost prince …”
Baine: “This has gone too far!”
Sylvanas: “They will surely attempt a rescue when they learn of his fate … so he can then slaughter them in their sleep.”
Baine: “How many more times must we forsake our honor?”
Sylvanas: “For us, there is only victory or death, Baine. And I will master death.”
Baine plans the resistance: Especially Baine seems to be struggling more and more with Sylvanas’ methods of war. He even tells the player that he no longer intends to passively observe the actions of the Banshee Queen – even though he does not openly act hostile.
“I can’t stand this, Champion. Every time I think Sylvanas has gone too far, she finds a new boundary to cross. I have merely watched her commit dishonorable act after dishonorable act. She desecrates more than just the memory of a fallen enemy. She desecrates the entire Horde. This cannot continue. Something must be done. And soon.”
Doubts among the allies: Other major characters in the Horde are also becoming skeptical, but are not as openly against Sylvanas’ actions as Baine is. The Nightborne Valtrois sees parallels between Sylvanas and the suffering she endured under the Legion, but does not speak out against it. Princess Talanji compares the resurrection of Derek to the resurrection of Rezan, carried out by Zul. She also does not seem particularly thrilled.
Slowly but surely, resistance is rising in the Horde against Sylvanas. Whether this will lead to an open uprising or if Sylvanas will deviate from her actual plan to avoid losing the support of the other races remains to be seen.
In Patch 8.1, you can decide whether to remain loyal to the Banshee Queen or stand against her.
Will you continue to stand with Sylvanas? Or has she slowly crossed a red line for you?
