Hunters in WoW are currently completely overpowered – at least for the Night Fae. The Tank DHs can one-hit other players.
In recent weeks, many players in the PvP of World of Warcraft have considered Subtlety Rogues too powerful. They have also recently received a massive nerf. But another class can currently deal ‘oneshots’ in PvP – the Demon Hunter. Once again, the player Rextroy captured this in a video, taking out other players in the arena, in open-world PvP, or in battlegrounds with a single strike.
What is to be seen? A Demon Hunter seems to use only a single ability to charge at an opponent and send them from 100% HP directly to death. He repeats this over and over again, as the ability has a low cooldown of 90 seconds.
How does it work? Rextroy has brought his Demon Hunter to the Night Fae Covenant. There, Demon Hunters get the ability “The Hunt,” which is considered rather subpar. An offensive ability that, especially for the Tank Demon Hunter, causes massive spikes in damage. This is because the ability scales with the mastery of the Tank specialization but not with the DPS specialization. On a critical hit, this leads to damage numbers of up to 30,000 damage in a single hit. This is mainly because “The Hunt” does not deal physical damage, but nature damage, effectively bypassing armor.
The attack can be used together with other abilities such as Abyssal Strike and Flaming Corruption.
Is this intended? Quite surely not. If a class can take out another player with roughly equal equipment in PvP within 2 seconds, it is highly likely that this is not what Blizzard intended. Therefore, it can be assumed that “The Hunt” will be adjusted in the coming days so that it does not deal as much damage for Tank Demon Hunters in PvP.
