Don’t feel like raiding in WoW? Just fake a hospital stay! That’s what a tank thought – the consequences came promptly.
In World of Warcraft there are days when fun is replaced by routine. However, since you have a certain obligation to a guild and your raid group, you drag yourself to the raid every week.
It is not always easy to cancel on your own group when you simply don’t feel like it – especially as a tank. Then there are often 10-20 players who can throw the evening “in the trash”. Since one player didn’t want to guide his group through the instance that evening, an excuse had to be made.
The reluctant tank claimed that he had broken his arm and therefore could not participate in the raid. The teammates showed understanding and wished him a speedy recovery. However, things began to get suspicious. Although the recovery of the arm was supposedly to take 8 to 12 weeks, the player promised to be ready again next week.
To support his story, he even sent an X-ray image of his broken arm and a photo of the destroyed car.
However, the tank was not particularly clever with this excuse. Some guild members noticed that the photo of the accident car had a timestamp – from 1997. With a little internet research, both images could then be found on Google and the exposure of the liar was easy.
The bottom line is that the guild now has one less tank and is richer by a lesson. That the tank with the fake excuse also used pictures of a car accident with a fatality particularly upset some guild members.
Although he was exposed, he did not give up and then published a picture of himself. However, in the picture, he only wore a compression bandage – no cast or anything appropriate.
The whole drama wasn’t even necessary.
Because according to the guild, there would have been “no reason to lie”. It sometimes happens that players simply don’t feel like it. They are not a guild with mandatory attendance and would have certainly found a replacement. However, the fact that several players worried unnecessarily is not something that can be accepted.

Cortyn thinks: Every WoW player probably knows the dilemma between “I just don’t feel like raiding today” and “I have mandatory attendance, otherwise I’ll let everyone else down”. But I really wouldn’t have the time to come up with such an excuse. One should have enough guts to simply say: I don’t feel like it. Then there is the risk of ending up on the bench next time.
But there are also guilds without drama – some are so liberated that they go raiding naked!
